You're saying the premium cars are the "quality" bit and the standard cars are "quantity"?

By adding in hundreds of low-quality standard cars you drag the rest of the game's quality down with it. The game can still shine in areas (Physics, etc.) that are applicable to all cars, but it is severely let down when it comes to the quality of the car models. Either have a small quantity of cars, and have them at consistently good quality (Premium-level), have a large quantity of cars at poor quality (standard-level), or have an average amount of cars with consistently average quality (a-la Forza ). Don't go mixing-and-matching the groups because then you just end up expecting the good cars, while actually getting mostly poor quality cars. It's disappointing, something that is NOT at all good for any developer.

Yeah that's one way of looking at it.

That's a valid opinion. But I don't do a whole lot of standard car driving. Probably the only standard I drive really is an ITR. Despite the graphics res of standard, the driving and feel of them are on par with the rest of the game. So, I enjoy driving the ITR, and now I can drive it from cockpit view like I do all my premium cars.

I'm not sure I'm following you here. All of them, ALL of the cars are from a physics stand point...Great. They differ in pixels between Standard and Premium.

So today, I went to my friend's place hanging out and played some F4 and I kinda notice something weird bout one thing.

I was watching replay of my friend drifting AE86 and the smoke coming out from was like a small puffs. Like this vid
[u2b]KLmaoZ0ISYw[/u2b]

Is that cuz of crappy/weak drifting? or it's like that? Just a small puffs dot by dot?

I'm kinda used to seeing GT5's big smokes so rear car can't see where they're going. Like this:

So just wondering...

That's exactly what I meant by the eariler part of my post - the physics of the cars is consistently good, but the graphics vary too much to be able to say the overall/average graphics are good. On average (because of the 80% standard cars) the graphics (of just the cars) are rather poor IMO.

Forza 3 had the same problem. The Xbox's hardware just isn't powerful enough to render a lot of smoke (smoke is a very hardware-intensive thing to render), but they have managed to add more smoke in Forza 4 than there was in F3.

Yeah I noticed that in all of the F4 drift videos.

Dynamic Smoke = GT5. Smoke produced based on physics of the car, wheel spin, angle, speed...etc.

Non-Dynamic Smoke = F4 Seems like it's just programmed in and puff's like an Indian fire pit.

Hahaha, I know, the smoke effects are pretty poor, but I guess it's better than nothing?

Complaining about smoke size, shape, frequency now? When are we going to aim our rage at the rubber we lay down and how it doesn't staying down forever? I mean in real life rubber doesn't evaporate from the blacktop after 30 seconds like in the games.

I'll be impressed with a console system when it can show me something like this with real time dissipation that takes into consideration the aerodynamics of the vehicle and the weather/wind conditions. :happy0180:

The length of time for tire marks is a lot longer than 30sec.
