I did track mine at full speed for the first time in early December, but I hadn't done any really high speed driving before installing the flap, so I can't really comment on that with any validity from my own personal experience. I am however certain that it's functional. The same design application is all over the motorsports world.

If you look really closely you can see the vortices coming off the back of the wing from all that downforce pressure squeezing the moisture out of the air...

Not really. I test fitted it a couple of time where I wanted it. Peeled the sticky tape back on the left and right sides. Lined everything up, presssed and then peeled the tape out as I was pressing along. Last I drilled in the holes, dropped in the anchors and applied the sticker.

Yeap. Just search for "STI front lip aluminum badge."

Thanks JPxM0Dz for that btw.

This is not really true. A gurney flap or wicker changes the flow characteristics at the trailing edge. A small vortex (twirling air) forms behind the flap. This helps decrease the boundary layer (layer near the surface with rapidly changing tangential velocity where shear stress is not negligible) on the low pressure side (bottom of airfoil on cars) increasing the effective camber of the wing. This is how the downforce is gained on gurney flaps. It does also increase the high pressure zone at the top of the wing, but not enough to do anything (low pressure side is where all the work is done )
