Mines rattles also, but it's due to aftermarket exhaust. Trying to figure out how to stop it... I stuffed napkins in areas I think it would rattle and it worked for a few days, but now it rattles again.

I had a horrible buzzing/rattle coming from the passenger side footwell - I thought it was just crap in my glovebox or the box itself, but I removed the whole assembly and it wasn't that.

Low and behold, it was the plastic blower motor housing. I contorted my way upside down under the passenger side dash and took out the blower motor to give it a good talking-to. (Unplug the electrical plug, loosen 3 screws, drops right out).

Looks like this:

Flip it upside down and you'll see a little plastic panel on it:

To backtrack for a second, knowing that I had to fix a rattle, I purchased some sticky-backed black felt at a local craft store (Michael's). It came in thin 9x11in sheets and was like $2.99/ea. Excellent for stopping vehicular rattles.

I popped open the little plastic panel with some body panel tools and wrapped the edges of the door in felt. Because the felt is so thin, the panel clicked shut again no problem.

Just incase it wasn't just the panel rattling, I put little round pieces of felt (I cut them) on both sides of the screw holes, where the screw touches the plastic and where the plastic meets the rest of the housing.

I reassembled it and hoped for the best. The rattle was constant before and in 2 days, I haven't heard it at all, so I'm guessing this solved it. My sanity can now slowly return.

This seems to be fairly common with the frs, one thing i was told was that scion tried to buld this car with out going past the 25k mark, so i think they had to cut corners perhaps just a tad, like interior paneling insulation ect. My Scion TC2 had 30,000 miles on it and it had a lot of creaks and rattles to so maybe its just something scion isnt quite on top of. Simple solution... EXHAUST SYSTEM!!! :}

Was driving mine today, and they're just now starting to get ridiculous.

First it was the drivers door lock, if I locked the door it fixed it though, but now it has come back, even while locked, with a vengeance.

I had the rear deck lid rattle and solved that (for now) by spraying some WD-40 in there.

Now my head unit has a rattle, there's another rattle that sounds like it's coming from the vicinity of the driver's side rear-view mirror.

Also I was getting odd wind noise on the passenger side window.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the car, but I feel like I'm driving the story of the telltale heart at some points.

If you've ever taken apart a vehicle that's on it's second or third generation and you find little pieces of sticky foam or a strip of deadener (I'm talking oem, not used car fixes) then you're seeing the development of first year car woes. If you're determined you can buy some weather strip and dynamat/raamat/etc. and get to town.

The weight of this car was extrememly important in development, they've taken out some bracing/skeleteon you might see in a sedan or lux line car, that leaves less places for body panels to be secured. Just look at how few places you have to unscrew to take the door card off compared to a Camry or Civic. That and essentially the rear interior is primarily held in by the rear seat?! Some companies are already making upgrade items that will probably be incorporated in future generations, like heavier rear decks instead of the shaky oem cardboard one.

Ah yeah the driver side headliner under the visor.. I wonder if some sound dampening can get rid of that.

Rear Deck rattle - Fixed with WD40
HVAC rattle - Only rattles over bumps
Drivers side rattle - I believe its coming from the fuse box area. I pushed against it when I'm driving and that eliminates the rattle.

I'm experiencing rattling where the third break light sits. On top of that, I also hear some tapping sound coming from the trunk. The sound becomes more noticeable when the rear seats are folded.

Rear deck not popping anymore. Dupont fast drying teflon spray lube.
Used the red tube and sprayed around the welds I could reach easily in the trunk.
Penetrates quickly then the carier dries fast.
Didn't even pry things apart or punch stuff.

I've been using the older formula on my motorcycle chain for several years with great success.
Can't use the new formula on chains, but I think it would work fine for curing the deck pop.

Is it the visor itself or something inside the headliner? There's a number of wires in the headliner itself that could come loose. Just tape 'em back up. If it's the visor itself, adjust the visor on the pivot pole thing (whatever it's called) so that there is less play.

For what it's worth, I've never in my life ridden in a car that did not have rattles, unless someone specifically spent time getting rid of them. Everything from Porches, M3s, Mercedes, to Toyotas and Mazdas...every one of them rattled if they had over 15k on the clock. I consider it a maintenance item. Stiffer suspension = more likely to rattle as well.
