And that would reflect the ability to order cars from that time. Tracking numbers could've been provided earlier if the cars could've been ordered before that date. The TMT system has been up and running long before the 86 came on the scene.

More likely that dealers were allocated a set number of cars and were allocated those units without prejudice by TMCA. There was a mad rush across the network to swap stock to match customer orders. We got what we were given and were only able to order from May onwards hence why our first customer orders (not allocated, then sold cars) will be arriving in September.

How about the 1st 3 pre-orders at 1 major dealership (feb,marchx2), all with sept delivery.

That's what I'm saying. Dealers all ordered as soon as they could. No one had any reason to not order cars.

sometimes it is not the dealer, the dealer may order all the cars they can and then Toyota gives them 5 blue and 5 red ones for the next 3 months - then everyone orders white so it will be the NEXT available white that is coming in.
The stock may sit there until someone buys it. As far as stock swaps, people are generally not swapping that far into the future.

Other times it may be luck of the draw that one dealer may get 5 white 86 in the first allocation and people are saying they have the stock.

right now I can safely say that all orders are for build only and it is well into the next year.

I'm a little confused when dealers only get two every month. Is this two in general to sell?

I'm assuming these are seperate to those of us who have ordered them to be specifically built in the factory, as we are getting specific tracking numbers for our particular cars? Or does it mean that our 'orders' are filled as part of those 2 per month allocations...

They are not separate. all orders come out of the dealers total allocation

Ok, I figured that might be the case, but how does that affect colour/model allocations? It seems dealers have no say in which colours/models are supplied each month?

The reason I ask is that since we are supplied web tracking for our specific orders, I would have thought that would dictate when that colour/model was arriving.

Anything a dealer orders now is a specific customer order and will match exactly what the customer wants. I wish we had the luxury of ordering stock too but I don't see that being possible until late next year. At the end of the day, if someone waits for "stock" to arrive they'll be waiting a very long time. Customer orders will always take priority.

as far as what dealers get, generally the bigger dealers will get more due to a fair share allocation - ie. one dealer sells 50 cars a month vs one that sells 400 a month, the bigger dealer will get more.

ok, so going to a bigger dealer for us didnt seem to help.

I thought it was the best thing to do, by going to a bigger dealer, but we got shafted instead ...

same boat. I thought going to one of the largest Toyota dealership that is direct from Japan, we will get first dibs, since dealer said "you are one of the first to get the 86".
