They tried justifying that by using their "supply and demand" and how limited this will be.

So when i come back home, I get a message from my local dealer saying that he was able to get my Firestorm one and wanted to give me more details on it. So I get there and ask him about price where he states, "let me be real with you, I highly doubt that ANYONE will sell this to you at MSRP...blah blah blah." But, he did agree with me on one topic, "I do believe that its a load of crap to add a mark up with no add-on's or anything 'special'."

After all that running around, I check my email and reminded myself of the salesman I've been in touch with in NV. He gave me a contract stating they'd sell at MSRP. (Yes, they gave me the price down to the cents)

So, I just wanted to warn everyone here that it may be difficult to get this car for the said price of $24.9k price we were all told or expected to pay. Expect BIG mark ups wit no add ons.

You have been WARNED

EDIT: I actually remembered the lady from South Coast telling me that she'll add a tinted windows option. lmao! yes, like that would help.
And this practice is what derails many promising starts for new, exciting cars...People go in to check out a car all excited and there's some greedy dealer to crap all over their dreams by adding a ton in mark-ups. Then the people get put off by this and either find another dealer or buy another car altogether. If people would just refuse to to pay these mark-ups dealerships would stop doing this crap in the first place.

very true. Was really shocked when I heard it the first time, my face literally went from this , to this . I even tried negotiating the mark up and she wouldnt budge at all. She insinuated that she had others willing to come down to pay the price.
Also, one of the dealers told me how someone was willing to pay $10k over their asking price. (not sure if true or just more bs)

That is total bs. Salesman engage in puffery/even outright lies all the time. I still remember when I went with my uncle to buy his E46 M3...the dealership was asking 10K as a markup because it was so "new and hot."

The salesman kept saying that we should snap it up for 9k over sticker because he had one guy willing to pay 8K over and another willing to pay 5K over. We laughed and left. A month later we came back...my uncle bought that exact same M3 for $500 under sticker...

yea, she would NOT budge on the mark up at all. I dont see a mark up of over $2k being justifiable unless it comes with something special (TRD parts, body kits, audio systems, etc.). She claims that the car will most likely be sold after this weekend - tried to get her to hold it for me before i knew of the mark up.

Even if we got written agreement that there'll be no markup?

Honestly, Im not sure anymore. I too have a contract with another dealership that states they will charge me MSRP, I have it documented and saved in my files. The only thing we can do now is wait. Its hard to say right now if these dealers that contracted us will stick to it because of "limited supply and high demand." I still dont believe a $4k mark up (which is like 20% cost of the car) is right for an AFFORDABLE SPORTS CAR. These dealerships are monopolizing this car and giving it a luxury stamp already!

My local dealer was like a close informant to me and now he seems like a sniffling business man. He even suggested to the first 86 guy who was there when I was talking to him, "you could sell your car for $10k over what you bought it because of the demand for this car."

Yup. So who are the idiots/jackasses buying it for marked up prices? Is it the performance product companies/professional racecar driver tuner companies?

no. People who have enough money to waste just to get what they want.

I got that call too last night and almost made the trip to go check it out. Thanks for saving me the trip then and sucks that South Coast Toyota would stoop to such practices. And looks like the car got sold earlier today.

When you get your FR-S, you should pull up to the dealer and go "what's up bitch? I paid sticker..."

lol. I'll say, "For the price you asked, I paid for gas to drive me to the dealership in NV, took a trip to Vegas, paid itself off from gambling, drove it at Las Vegas Speedway, drove back, bought myself lunch and still had something left over! BITCH!"
