hm... I could get the GT28 journal bearing for $1000 less that works great on stock, or the latest and greatest GTX2860R but you need a built motor?
There is also a GT2860RS Ball Bearing for $600 less than GTX2860R. Now I question, do I really want a GTX2860R for DD and rare autox/tracking or can someone be equally happy with the cheaper turbo options? https://www.86speed.com/products/jdl...ild-a-kit.html Not exactly sure what the hp numbers mean on this page, is that hp the turbo adds to the car's current hp, or hp the car can have after setup/tuning?

Is there a dyno floating around of the difference in transient response of the cut vs. no cut IC piping? Interested to see how much of a difference in response there actually is.

I hate living in CA! Stupid emission laws. Gotta stick with Header and e85 only JDL makes really good stuff.

I'd be happy with 250whp.. I wager I'm at ~180whp right now with catless header and OFT tune. Main plan is just a DD that won't really be driven much since I work from home. I'd like to try autox and some other car sports at some point, but nothing serious. When the car goes, I'll most likely part it out and abandon the platform to try something else. Maybe 370Z or STi or some other affordable RWD or AWD sports car. I would love a Porsche GT4 or GT2 RS, or Mercedes AMG C63 S, but those are far outside my wallet.

The earlier one, preferably! Boost at 3K rpms sounds amazing. I'll go with the GTX2860 for that alone.

Here's his build thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13157 Heres his youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyQ...iecR4kti2VZ91A This guy has a JDL turbo kit with a GTX2860r gen2 with a 9.4 waste gate spring. He makes full boost at about 3500k rpms. Watch his video about installing the kit, pretty informative, might answer some questions for later on! Dyno sheet to prove it (E67 ethanol) |

you're already breaking CARB laws by running header and e85. So at this point it honestly wouldn't matter if you are running a turbo or not.

That's my reasoning at least. I could deal with swapping the manifold every couple years, but an entire turbo kit... I dunno about that one. The fact that some of the superchargers are CARB legal is cool, it's just that knowing you dropped the same amount of cash as a turbo kit that would be a lot more efficient is a tough pill to swallow. I'm still not sure which route I'll go eventually, but for the time being I'm gonna enjoy the simple stock life. And who knows, maybe someday I'll go all in and buy a lift along with the turbo kit haha.
