Will we all add the 10 series production sequence number of the car to our signature? I can just vision "86". Wouldn't that be sweet!

Unless the white mylar film applied to all horizontal surfaces as the car leaves the factory for transit conceals the problem until removal during prep at the POE.

Wouldn't you think paint would be one of the more obvious issues therefore least likely to go unoticed until now.

Whatever the "issue" is/was, it only affected the first run off the line that are on stop sale. It would be interesting to know if early production of the other 10 Series models were affected. If so, the only thing in common is paint.

I doubt the other models could have the same problem, since the others all come from Toyota plants, even if it was a paint issue. My guess would be a clear coat problem, like maybe the wrong clear on the first batch. That could easily go unnoticed by uninformed workers, when there was only the one clear (white satin pearl/whiteout) previously.

It sticks out in my head how different the paint color looked on the FR-S, side by side with the other 10 Series models at Toyotafest. Makes me wonder if they decided to compensate for the different factory paint processes somehow, to make them match better, and ran into a snag.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be as bad as feared, and gets resolved soon.

I'd be walking into the dealership and asking when I can expect delivery of my 5AD body kit, then tell them to talk to Toyota after explaining that the car is delayed.

Good, that is the product or order number that my sales associate referred to.

The wait continues. Any update on the quality related delays that have been reported?

Right. Despite being told that it was on a ship due in Portland 6/04, I just learned that it and the other early production cars are still in Japan. I don't fault the dealer at all, it was and still is poor communication by TMS. Still no idea what the stop sale is about and now only have a vague ETA. Not happy and having second thoughts. Might be having a terrific sale on new, unused, never installed FR-S go-fast parts soon.

What would you get instead? Or you just wouldn't get one at all? Here in Louisiana my ETA is the end of the month, so you were doing better than the rest of us.

The local Subaru dealer has a WR BRZ Limited 6M/T in transit and quoted $27,432 Costco price (no tax in OR). If I don't get a reliable ETA by early next week, I might just go that route. I'd much rather have the 10 Series, but not if it means missing half of the Summer autocross and track day season.
