If there is no condensation water sputtering or leaking out between the mating surfaces ( mine were till I used Remflex ) at the cold start, then there is no leak.
Interesting. I got a CEL when I went out for lunch, so I'll pull the code when I head home and if it's rear O2 related I'd say I have a leak. I did double check to make sure Shiv disabled the CEL for cat efficiency, so it's not due to the lack of cat.

I assume you've had the remflex gasket in for a while? I saw some old posts on Nasioc about them failing (but that was on turbo cars, so who knows)

Dear JDL

Just want to leave feedback about my experience so far after placing an order

-3 weeks ago followed up to see status of headers. Told they would be finished that week, sent to coating, then shipped out the next week.
-2 weeks later follow up via email and receive no response.
-called today and find out the parts are still sitting in the shop waiting to go to coating. Person on phone apologizes that I had earlier been 'misinformed'. Still was not clear if they would even go to coating next week.

I would expect this from the government, but hope for a little more in this industry - I work in manufacturing myself. To require payment up front then just sitting on the parts doesn't feel right - perhaps you shouldn't charge until shipment (common in the industry), which provides internal financial motivation to ship.

I sure hope the parts are high quality and make it worth it! The photos look great...

I've had them for about 5 months / 8K miles. I also read those posts on Nasioc, but my experience has been completely positive. I use them at all the exhaust connections, including header to block.

This includes about 20 autocross events, so I feel they've held up well so far. Can't comment on why some people have bad luck with them. Maybe they bent and cracked them during installation?

I still don't see any condensation or anything from my exhaust, and the CEL was unrelated (camshaft position sensors... time for the TSB) so I guess I'm fine. Definitely a wooshy/hissy noise from the engine bay area though. I dunno...

I'd recommend not using the OEM gasket on the overpipe connection... It's not big enough to crush completely due to the JDL flange being a 2.5" opening vs the factory 2".

The JDL provided gasket seals fine. Still a lot of wooshy noise thanks to the change in pipe diameter. Thanks to JDL for the pic from their development thread:

Might the grimmspeed gasket work better for the overpipe connection? So there's no way to avoid the "wooshy" noise?

I'm sure the Grimmspeed gaskets are the best solution, but it was leaking and the Grimmspeed gaskets I ordered aren't going to ship for a bit since they're moving shops at the moment. JDL gasket seals fine.

It's a lot less wooshy now, but it's still wooshier than I expected. I really only notice if I'm driving next to something with the windows down, so it's not like it's obnoxious. JDL has made posts about headers sounding weird with the OEM overpipe, so I had plenty of warning. I'll eventually pick up a matching JDL overpipe, but I'm trying to keep my car quiet and not totally blow my budget right now, haha. I'd have jumped right on the JDL overpipe if I couldn't make the factory one seal.

@JDL Could we get the weights of the various headers:

UEL - catted
UEL- uncatted
EL- catted
EL- uncatted

Thanks!!!

Ah OK, my bad, I didn't realize you were talking about the factory OVP. I'm going with the JDL UEL and OVP, so maybe I can avoid the WOOOOSH. Then I have a Perrin frontpipe, so hopefully those will meet up well.

I like how it sounds You can hear the bit of wooshiness. The header's powerband feels freaking fantastic. Essentially no more torque dip, and plenty more power everywhere else too. I love it! Thanks for the awesome product JDL, can't wait until I can justify the matching overpipe (and maybe front pipe too...)
