Update: Yesterday I was told my ETA for a NEW ECU was changed from OCT 30th to NOV 1st. My car has been sitting in the shop since SEP 17th with only 600 miles on it.
Based on what I can deduce from all sources, my best guess is that they are just Buying Time, to figure out a better solution than what is currently happening.
I, for one, am kinda glad that my car is just sitting safely at the dealership instead of being used as a Guinea Pig.

Just curious, how long do the car need to be in the shop before I can ask for a loaner car?

They gave me mine immediately. I believe the rule is that you can get it on the 2nd day. However, my dealer has been good and understands this isn't a quick fix. Both times, they've offered me a rental immediately.

called and will return car to dealer monday

emailed Lana @ SOA that car is going back for same issue.

will update my signature next... OCT 7 MD meet is ON! I'll just make sure we have no stops for the ride, can't rough idle if it's moving!!

...my new outlook on my particular situation, it's like paying child support for my baby and I only get to spend weekends with her....I feel like a terrible "car" mommy

...or rather you keep taking her to the doctor and the treatments they give her don't work so you have to keep taking her back. You're actually an excellent "car mommy" ;-)

In my opinion, you shouldn't even have to ask... A brand new car you bought from them (possibly at a premium) is immobilized due to no fault of your own. Moreover, I'm guessing that, at this point, they either (1) have no clue what the problem is and are making it up as they go or (2) are waiting for parts to be available. In both cases, completely unacceptable.

Again, if not offered, you should demand a car on day 1.

So got my call back today and I was told they would offer me 1 payment and 7 year extended warranty for the 20+ days for the CEL / SL light the condensation in the tail lights and still waiting on a fuel pump. Not that I'm not happy but the rep decided to add in after saying Toyota would do that is "Just remember we didn't have to do any of this it is a good will gesture"

Yes you are doing me a favor by giving me an extended warranty on a vehicle that had to have a VVTI Gear... wait no I mean ECU Flash..... Wait no new ECU done. Oh btw we also need to do

Pump Assembly, Fuel 1
SU003-00342 Same Pipe, Fuel Delivery, No. 2 1
SU003-00347 Same Gasket 1
SU003-00290 Same Gasket, Intake Manifold to Head, No. 1 2
SU003-00316 Same Gasket, Throttle Body

and new tailights!

I don't know more or less aggrivated because I felt like I was spoon fed a bunch of BS and now that they got the car out of the shop just under the lemon law they want to act like they are doing me a favor by crediting me a payment for a car that was off the road 20+ days as well as a extended warranty which cost $0 unless its used.

Maybe Im blowing off steam being aggrivated that I spent another 3.5 hours for them to order parts and then tell me the ETA of the parts is "Who Knows Its An FRS" don't worry drive the car and we will call you whenever it comes in.

Got my car back today. Will post a picture of the work done when I get home from work but it involved the cam gear sensor and a reflash. So far so good after about a 20 minute drive. Plan on going for a nice long drive later to make up for lost time and see if it comes back.

Just got word on my car. They replaced the cam sprocket and it still threw the code (P0019, I believe). They are flying in a field service engineer to take a look at it soon. Apparently when they first called into Subaru they mentioned the ECU as a possible fix, now they are no longer suggesting it.

They do have to protect themselves for legal reasons, but still, the attitude is a little hard to stomach. Guy on fb got a slightly better deal:

Just got off the phone with Scion of America. In total, my car was in the shop for 3 weeks. I am getting a month's payment paid for, and a 8 year or 125K Toyota warranty. I'm happy with that.

I guess we made it to Jalopnik and is the fix that easy? Just flash to the lastest ECU? I thought that didn't work.

What are you guys doing to get these deals? I called up Subaru last weekend to file a complaint and said I was concerned that my brand new car already had a problem and engine work done to it. They just said it was on record and that it would definitely be fixed and be good as new. My car was in the shop for a total of 16 days,
