It's curious that Subaru named the part as "center console silencer"

I know i am dreaming now..........
but what i really miss is the initiative from STI ![]() Why not produce : 1. The Steering Wheel Badge , there is NO reason why not; its a very very simple part. 2. what about STI Floor Mats ? would be so cool and also easy to produce, too 3. STI Kickplates or "Illuminated" Kickplates 4. STI Engine Cover instead of the silly looking Toyota/Subaru Blue one 5. STI RED Key Leather Cover ( was sold only on a japan exhibition or something like that ) ......so why not sell it onwards now ??????? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Not at all, but to make blanket statements regarding vehicle purchasing which dis-includes the US is simply ignorant. We are one of (if not the) largest single vehicle markets in the world. My comments did relate only to the US market, but were in response to a comment which discounted our market entirely.

As for SOA, they can't even equip the BRZ with proper interior carpet mats yet the RoW markets have the correct sized ones for LHD (i got mine from Germany) tells me they don't give two shitz about our market (I'm in Canada and our cars are dictated by SOA in terms of equipment). In the United States, most manufacturers know most Americans don't care and just want a low price point (VWoA is a good example, even other products like Tupperware being sold at Walmart is of lower quality compare to ones being sold in Europe, isnt' Tupperware American?). My original comment was a little tongue in cheek towards Trap (in Italy) and Bond (in Germany). It was not directed at your home market because I was not even thinking about it. You are overthinking a simple joke. Hope that clears it up. |

Target price and grade in Europe are fixed upon euro "way" to buy and own car. In Europe, only 6 cars about 10 are under consumer financing or renting. Renting is under 2% of market share. Leasing is intended only for professional and companies here. Therefore in Europe you own your car without any reserved property of finance house or bank and you change the car after more than 36 months. Ballon is very very rare to find as sale proposal. Constructor builds the grade under this way. Usually our base grade is similar only to higher grade of US Market. About Subaru, global player, the main sales focus is on qty. Wide market as US requires high competition on price and financing. You can sell better and more building light grade. In Europe, Subaru has a wide market only in Germany. In Germany you cannot build a grade without auto mirrors or remote or keyless or manual AC. No one will buy a "light" grade or a car without brand carpet. It's a standard for us.

Joke or not, (and I think you all took my original comment WAY too seriously as well), it was still a dumb comment, given how large the US market is. If it was intended for a particular audience, it should have said so.
While I'm as frustrated as the next guy that the US historically hasn't gotten many of the halo products, that hasn't always been the case, and it seems to be changing. (The BRZ Series.Blue, BTW looks like it comes with carpeted floor mats with blue piping and silver "BRZ" embroidered in.) VAG, since you mentioned them, is sending us the Golf R, TT-RS, RS5, S6, S8, probably the S3, and the list goes on. None of which has anything to do with your original comment. Your original comment was that the BRZ was the bargain-basement model of the FT86 twins. In the US, it's the other way around. And according the one article I found, we are the 2nd largest market, only behind Japan. No matter how you try to rationalize it, your original comment was just plain wrong. If it was a joke, and intended for 2 specific members, it should have said so. Sorry if correcting an apparently blatantly wrong comment comes off as harsh here, it was not intended that way. |

I wrote GT86 because that's the European model (in Japan it's called the 86, and neither exist in America obviously cuz Scion FRS). Gunma is like farming country (okay slight exaggeration) west of Tokyo. Subaru boxer engines tend to sound like a tractor at idle, and their cars usually don't come with a very upscaled interior (okay the two gens of Alcyone weren't too bad but they were no Toyota Soarer). Let's face it, the North American market sucks for imports. I came from the VAG world (I had a Magma Orange Mk5 Golf GTI with a lot of RoW parts I brought in myself so I understand your frustration with the market here, we all feel it). Models that you have mentioned are nowhere near what can be spec RoW. Even Elvis Stojko had to bring in an A5 Seat Leon Cupra R all the way from Mexico (I heard he renewed it every 6 months just to drive it here in TO). Let's pick the Golf R since you mentioned it; the A5 model didn't even come with a rear subframe and some decontenting with the general equipment (typical of VWoA so they don't cannibalize on Audi sales imo). This new A7 model, the EA888 engine for the North American market will not come with port injection (10hp less and carbon buildup?), no rotary valve thermal management system (only has a thermostat instead) on the engine, no electronic handbrake meaning no full integration with hill hold assist, smaller LCD screen for the headunit (looks really cheap), no LED taillights, etc. Did I mention Made in Mexico? BUT I DIGRESS! Back to your original programming! |

USA has a very high population density hence a lot of manufacturers focus on volume to make money (hence the lower specs). It never makes any sense for them to market the best stuff here, but people always moan about that on the Interweb, yet they most likely don't have the wallet to back up that moaning (think 84 month 0% financing or no money down leases holy smokes, remember they have something called Petrol Dollar backed by the printing presses that can keep going indefinitely - okay until the rest of the world stop taking their fiat money). Sorry I thought I was typing on TTAC / Zero Hedge.
