I think the price of around 25k is not all that bad but not great either....around 30k drive out for the auto with manual shift. Definitely not a price that makes the car a no brainer. That is unfortunate for the young enthusiast on a budget.
BUT it is a niche product. Many will sell in the first year and then you will see these sitting in dealer lots. Price will not go down for the FRS since Scion have fixed pricing. The BRZ might however be haggled over for lower price in a year or two. By the way, from personal experience I can say that a Miata or a BRZ/FRS can be as much fun and be legitimately called "sports cars" as a GTR. In fact a GTR is more imposing and has greater performance but not necessarily more fun than a Miata. The NSX, of which I have had two, was much more fun than the GTR. I cannot wait for the next gen NSX....2-3 years

Not sure if anyone posted this before, but if someone did.. my bad. My first post on the forum.
But this is the email I got from my local Las Vegas Subaru Dealership regarding the BRZ. Take what you want from it. The 2013 BRZ is a very well exciting and well engineered car. We are pleased to have the opportunity to sell the BRZ at our dealership. It is available in the Premium or Limited model. The Limited comes with leather upholstery. This car comes equipped with a either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission. It will produce 200 horsepower. At this time we are able to pre sell these vehicles prior to delivery. It would require a $2500 refundable deposit with a first right of refusal. If you pre order one now it would be 90 to 120 days before it would arrive at our dealership. Prices range from $27,000 to $30,000 plus title, tax and fees. There will also be a Subaru of Las Vegas' Assurance package with 2 years/24,000 Carefree Maintenance included plus PULSE, a safer braking technology. Window tint with a lifetime warranty and lifetime oil changes will be included. The total price of this Assurance package is $1185. The standard charge for this package is $2185.00 As a new car owner you will receive a discount of $1000. A fair market premium of $2500 will be added to the price of the vehicle due to very limited availability. We have only been alloted 21 of these cars for this year. |

So, $27-30k for the BRZ, plus my dealership wants $2500 on top because of limited availability? lol wtf
So, realistically $29,500 - $32,500 + ttl and fees? For a 200 hp subaru? Ouch. Just taking info from what I got from the dealership.. thats all. |

Welcome to 2012. We've been having pretty severe inflation now for the past few hundred years. This is a decent price all things considered.

I guess we balance it back to zero because I neither want to have nor pay for either. I'd love it if the car had a wings and a prop for that price too but it doesn't, and I bet most wouldn't want to buy it if it did.

Don't complain to much, in Switzerland the price is nearly twice as high!
CHF 42k = USD 46k Sure the GT86 is slightly better equipped here. |
