Yep late 30s early 40s Ford cab at any rate. Can't see enough of the box to know what that is.

Nah. He is making fun of the person that actually said that. They are no longer with us.

got to break check a guy that came flying up on my in the right most lane. he locked up the breaks spun out across 3 lanes to the left and then came spinning back off the right side of the highway. it was one of my most proud moments in life.

hmmmmm.......looks to be a 1937 Ford or Chevrolet pickup with a large beer keg in the back, plumbed into the cab .........

So, I went into getting my lease for my FR-S knowing that doing so with the intention of buying it out at the end was not financially sound. But, the lease was an amazing deal (30k miles a year that I've not even approached, all maintenance included, all consumables included, insurance included) and hard to pass up. Well, I've mentioned this before, my lease is up in November.

I'm realizing it might be worse financially than I assumed. After playing with some calculators with the last buy price I was quoted, it looks like I'll pay as much for a loan (if not more depending on terms) as I already am for the lease. On top of that will be insurance. I could go from paying around $300 a month to paying $400-$500 a month. I don't like that.

So now I have to decide if I soldier on and keep the FR-S (I do love it) or get something else. I've mused the idea before (there's a thread in the Car OT). It's just rearing it's ugly head again.

Lol be careful though it's not worth it if they actually hit you trust me. I got rearended (not from brake checking just the traffic stopped hard on the highway) and it's literally YEARS before you recover anything if you sue. I'm still waiting. I just finished physical therapy after 6 months the legal battle hasn't even begun really. Or you can take the insurance offer for 50 cents on the dollar...

it was super close. it's a good thing I hadn't actually slowed down and just lit my break lights up because he would have hit me. it had to have been inches.

Before I give anyone the wrong impression, I'm not a pilot. Just lots and lots of time as an operator and crew chief... back in the day.
Best seat was in the cockpit, back-to-back with the pilot.

Well certified or not, you're right in that above the first layer of clouds is usually* much less bumpy. The worst place is right near the bases. The puffy cumulus clouds are basically a visual representation of atmospheric instability. The bigger they are, the harder they will rock you.

Oh, yeah. It can get rough. It's just that staring down at solid cloud cover gets pretty boring. On the worst day it still beats not flying so there's that.

My neighbor across the street has one just like that in excellent condition. It's a family heirloom from his granddad. He has a couple 56 Bel Airs too. We're always talking car stuff.

We had the mostly complete but very rotted remains of one like that in the forest beside where I grew up. It was my fort for many years and I drove that thing around the world when I was 5. Don't know where it came from or how long it had been there but there were trees growing through it (big trees not saplings).
