That's how I set mine up. With the wide angle side mirrors I don't miss much.

Set the mirrors to be as far outward as possible... For example your left mirror should be set to give you a view as far away from your car as possible.

Your side mirrors will cover your blindspot while the interior mirror will cover things at your 6 o clock

No, it doesn't. Not exactly the "safest" to be claiming you never shoulder check either, that sounds like a recipe of hitting someone in your "non-existant blindspot".

Really, what you want to do to set your mirrors up, is to have each of your side mirrors set so that you're only seeing a sliver of your car on the inside of each mirror (if that makes sense?). And yes, you will still need to do shoulder checks, either by physically turning your head to look behind you, or leaning forward to check your mirror at another angle (again, does that make sense? Sounds a bit over complicated).

Either way, at the end of the day, I wouldn't solely be trusting my mirrors to show me what's behind me. I drove 14t trucks with shit visibility and massive mirrors with massive blind spot mirrors and they don't pick up everything beside you. You still need to move inside the cab to see what's around you. Don't be that complacent asshole who relies on mirrors because "they're perfectly adjusted bro".

New wheels, washed, waxed, put on smoked side markers, and hopped on the lathe and machined some custom center caps. OH and realized I desperately need to lower it despite my ridiculously steep driveway.

It explains why that is the best method.

Bergen's method is the "traditional" method, which has several key flaws:
First and foremost, by keeping a "sliver of your car" visible in the mirror, you are effectively overlapping and duplicating information from your interior rearview mirror.
At the same time, you've narrowed down your field of vision for the side mirrors so that you don't actually catch what's going on in your blindspot.

Unlike Bergen, I've actually tested this method by checking for items in my blindspots using only the mirrors (i.e. by using parked cars as a reference point).
I can say for sure that if you setup your mirrors correctly, you eliminate the blindspot (unless if there's a car that happens to be less than 6 inches long hiding right behind your B-pillar).

It explains exactly why your method (though the traditional approach to adjusting mirrors) is flawed, and how you can setup your mirrors to effectively eliminate blindspots.

Your experiences in 14t trucks with "shit visibility" are not exactly analogous to a 2,800lb sports car.

100% agree. Was composing a response when you beat me to it. Well put.

One can also practice this technique by observing the mirror images while being slowly overtaken by other vehicles. When adjusted properly vehicles appear in the side view mirror before disappearing from the rear view.

Speaking from experience, for really tall people, the side-view mirrors cannot rotate out far enough to achieve this proper adjustment. This is the only time where @Bergen23's technique of leaning forward becomes necessary. Still, I do the shoulder check because I almost changed lanes into a big airport shuttle soon after buying it. Scared the shit out of me.

Yup, if you are setting your side view mirrors to catch a sliver of the side of your car, your side view mirrors are looking more behind that beside you. I drove that way a long time until I realized that there was no reason to see my own car.

IMO, shoulder checks can be dangerous with traffic around you. You have to stop looking in front of you to do one!

Good point, but what about when motorcyclist or bicyclist trying to pass you? That's always been my concern regarding my outside side mirrors, so the way I eliminate my blindspot is by getting a Broadway mirror and tilting it to the side until I can see my right side backseat small window. Anyone else does this also? I'll try to get a pic so people will understand what I'm talking about.. but the only downfall for this is I always check my left side shoulder when I'm passing, but for my right, I can just look at the 2 mirrors and I'm good.

I tend to keep track of what I pass, including bicyclists... If I passed a motorcyclist, I'll make sure to check for him before any turns or lane changes.
As for bicyclists passing us, we aren't THAT underpowered haha...
