Just hit 312 miles, nearing end of original tank of gas -- so far, so good.

I swore I heard a chirping sound yesterday when I parked. I left the car for an hour and came back to drive it around the block, but the sound was gone when I turned the engine on. I'm only at about 170 miles right now though so I won't vote yet.

Seriously - if you don't have at least 500 miles on the car yet, don't bother posting about crickets. As long as you're using ethanol fuel, they'll come - just give it time.

Or in my case, no matter what type of fuel you use, period... you get crickets.

Maybe too late already... How many fuel-ups you did with ethanol in comparison to non-ethanol?

Seems like an opportunity here for someone to develop an aftermarket fuel pump, maybe?

4500 miles in and they sound worse than ever...I am going to be trying some of the Lucas Ethanol Treatment in my gas tomorrow. Hears hoping, i refuse to do 2-stroke on the idea that if Toyota found out, they might be a bunch of jerks.

They could also react the same way to any additives including LET unless the service book requires them to be used.
Nothing will work unless it's a lubricant that's specifically designed to be used in gasoline and then burn cleanly. That means no ash or very low ash.
LET has been tried and didn't work.

Seems that gas type does affect it. I have no idea how much ethanol is in either variant though...they only publish that it "may contain up to 10%" at both stations.
I do not understand why you are consistently using 91 gas. User manual for this car explicitly states that it is designed to run on 93 only. 91 may be safe for short term if 93 is not immediately available, but that's all. I used Sonoco 93 in me previous car (which also was sensitive to gas), and now in my BRZ. Never had gas quality related issues with that brand for 13 years. I never used anything below 89 grade in any of my cars though.

California does not have 93.

Good point. Fancy being concerned about adding a tiny amount of 2T to shut up the chirp while using the wrong fuel!
Everyone seems to use the 91 and I assumed it was tuned for lower octane in the US and not the 93=98 required here.

93 isn't widely available in the US....ya there are areas that have it, but most do not...just like most major cities do not have any stations that have no ethanol...not saying there aren't any in a major city, just saying they are sparse.

Ya the car comes factory tuned for 93/98, too bad to achieve that most are going to need octane booster/shot of race fuel to get there.

I am one of the lucky few here in the Mid-West, as we have regular access to 93 and 95 octane in specific locations. Unfortunately, my FR-S still has the chirp.
