What does a working pinball machine go for? I have a plan to put one in a games room when I get my garage built and turn can convert the workshop in the basement.

Yea, that is crazy. I mean, I filled up my 80gb PS3 a couple years after I got it, but that took years.

Late nights in the garage playing Gran Turismo just for the replays to watch our RUF cars fly through Deep Forest. Good times.

Are your guys' garages really well insulated or do you just bundle up when you hang out in your garage man cave?

Highly variable. I have owned machines from $200 up to $8000 ++
Halifax is a good pinball town. I did a complete restoration on my Centaur thanks to the boys at Classic Playfields who have been remanufacturing playfields, plastics and backglasses in the HRM the past few years. One of the co-owners Mike Purcell, happens to be an Air Canada 767 pilot too.

There is a guy in Halifax named John Greatwich who sells new and used machines. I think he calls his home based manufacturing and sales business Great Pinball.

I am sad though that I sold 4 of my nicest machines to help fund my FR-S summer car.

Yep same here, and I know someone that has done a 1tb as well. Heck, the system was designed for it to be easy, and it doesn't void the warranty. Instructions on Sony's sites are here.

Garage
So I've been putting off looking for a new place to live for a while now, mostly because of timing my move with the end of my lease. Today I think I found where I will be living, it's a nice 1 bedroom apartment with a detached garage (for tinkering) and the coolest thing about it...5 minutes from our local race track, Firebird International raceway. the thing that's kind crappy is I can't wait to move, I live with two roommates who are actual friends of mine, as in I knew them before moving in with them. They have to be two of the laziest people i know when it comes to keeping the house clean. I have literally relegated myself to not using anything but the garage, bathroom, and my room due to the fact that I refuse to clean up after them. They are incredibly inconsiderate as well, I work night shift 6pm-6am and constantly get woken up during the day by either my roommates dogs barking outside my window, my roommate being an idiot with his 3 wheeler with a straight pipe in the garage, or turning music up loud. I've asked them to not do these things, but over time they either just forget or don't care. On top of all this when my second roommate moved in he would constantly block my car in the garage. When i confronted him about it, he said that I can ask him to move it whenever I wanted to leave...see how well that works with me working night shift. So as a concession i pay $100 a month more rent to keep that space open. Yes i pay $100 a month for a parking spot I don't even use. As a last straw these idiots are upset that i am moving out when i am. They asked me to stay an extra month so one of them could close on a house, so I reluctantly did. Now they want me to stay one more. Sorry I'm fed up with this living situation. Sorry to vent but damn I really can't wait to move.
