I think they mean the Sonata's turbo-4, the one with 270hp.

Isn't it 270 something in the Sonata? Maybe they don't want to bump up the Genesis version too much or it'll hurt the V6's sales?

with simple mods, the 3SGTE makes 270hp. like $500 in mods. i'm still not impressed with the Hyundai's 2.0L turbo.

I wanted this car so much! But what I didn't want is bad and fat Ferrari copy.
All the originality has gone, it is not ugly but it doesnt look lean and slick anymore.

I speculate that Toyota and Subaru will definitely aim for different markets as it is not reasonable for them to R & D just to save cost and fight in the same category.

More likely, Toyota will want to carry the spirit of AE86 and keep the important variables that made AE86 a legend.
- Light weight
- High Revving
- Low CG
In short, for market with the idea more of "Control"

For Subaru, I think they will vary slightly, keeping some of the main attributes of the R & D, but giving their version a bigger punch on the power. I am thinking that they might come up with the turbo version and compete with another segment. Don't be surprised if they go into 300hp version.

That sounds more reasonable in business sense. Share cost for R & D, and each competing for a different market share. If not for that the partnership will not make sense at all economically.

Unlikely when they've already said it will be a 2.0 NA engine.

However thats not to say a few years after initial launch they wouldn't look at what you speculate.

Yeah actually I suspect the reason why Subaru is launching later is also because they want everyone to get the Toyota first, before making changes to plans and announcing a turbo version. It isnt hard basically for them to do so.

LOL now you can guess how much thinking I have been doing on this project~!~!~!~!

Going crazy waiting for em to hit the showrooms.

The whole world isn't America
And another thing is, yes the rx8 is slightly slowest than a mps3 in a straight line, but since it's not actually a drag car who really cares? It whoops it by seconds around tracks with a same driver. And that's stock, add a supercharger/turbo so both are same aspirated.. Well that's a different story

You obviously have no clue what a gearbox does..
If this thing revs to let's say 8500 you cat compare it to a car that revs to let's say 6.. Yet they will both have top speed of around 100km/h in 2nd..
And mate this isn't a 350 big block revving to 5000 redline throug a 4speed top loader 6 speed gearbox and a high redline = awesome fun (again il compare a rotary to this, iv never had problems accelerating.)

The whole world isn't America....but this IS America. RX8 I doubt would whoop an MS3 around a race track as well, unless it was modded or it was a course full of multiple turns and limited straights.

If I want the II to be like another high rev'er, then I hope it's like S2kish rather than RX8ish.

RX8 doesn't impress me even on boost. Swap the RX7 rotary in there, then you have done it right.

And don't bring Big Blocks into this, no one is talking about American V8 torque here. American cars aren't the only ones that can make "satisfactory" torque numbers.

I'm going to boost the SOB anyway though so...meh...moot points. More power and torque + high rev is not a bad thing.
