2400? That sounds like a 2nd gen ish...aren't the current Miata's weighing in closer to 2700?

Nope (thank gawd). Not that Wiki is a definitive source, but here's their Miata page:

The NC Miata is around 2600lbs now. The MSM NBs were 2550 and IIRC the NC came in a bit heavier than the MSM.

Edmunds lists the curb weight at 2500 even. Regardless, the dimensions are correct:

Length: 157.3 in. Width: 67.7 in. Height: 49 in. Wheel Base: 91.7 in. Ground Clearance: 4.6 in. Curb Weight: 2500 lbs.

Another interesting comparison is to the RX8.
Length: 174.3 in. Width: 69.7 in. Height: 52.8 in. Wheel Base: 106.4 in. Ground Clearance: 4.7 in. Curb Weight: 3053 lbs.
vs the FT86
Length: 163.78 inches / Width: 69.29 inches / Height: 48.19 inches / Wheelbase: 101.18 inches.

The RX8 makes 230HP and only 150lb/ft. The FT86 is almost a foot shorter (length) and sits 4 inches lower and should be about 2-400lbs lighter.

Hi Bochet, here are a couple of threads from Miata.net about owners who have weighed their NCs. 2400 lbs. seems to be about right.

Hey man, I'm on those forums as well, same name. I knew I recognized yours!

You're right, looks like 2400 is a more accurate weight for the NCs.

Hope all is well, keep the shiny side up

Hey Bochet, I recognized your name from M.net right off the bat as well! I suspect a lot of Miata guys are going to be interested in the '86.

Cheers,

That and a lot of S2000 owners as well. I think there are close to 10 already following this forum. I expect the number of both to grow pretty large as this thing gets closer to release.
