Can we get the FT-86 first? I promise to trade up to a Supra if it's made. I swear. Scouts honor.

A Lexus IS coupe is a nice in between to a 70kish supra and a 20-30k FT-86.

Seen your crossed fingers..
But seriously speaking, Toyota needs to get apart, image and lineup wise, from Lexus, because the way you put it, an IS-F coupe could actually replace the Supra. But GM managed to keep both the new Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and the Corvette, so in theory there is a hope for Toyota too. But the Corvette become a tradition for Chevy, that is a continued tradition from 1953 until today, GM didn't drop the Corvette even when it was threatened by bankruptcy, while Toyota didn't had any hard feelings, axing the Supra when they were in full expanding.

This is prob old hat but wanted to share. Supra revival.

According to British magazine car, development of the LFA supercar and the entry-level FT-86 sports car has given Toyota's rear-wheel-drive team an insatiable desire to return the carmaker to its sporting roots.

Rumours of a new Supra have been circulating for nearly as long as the badge has been absent from showrooms. That'll be 10 years, next August.

This time, it's easy to feel that it's a different situation, that the fan-favourite could return. Nissan's success with the 370Z and even the Supra's one-time rival, the GT-R, must surely be ruffling some feathers at Toyota HQ. With or

Dammit Toyota! You just had to throw a monkey wrench into the mix. My plan was if the FT-86 was a flop, I would get an MK4 Supra but now I see this...awesome haha

I've got a decent amount saved up but yeah it will probably be crazy expensive...if it ever gets built.

I can see New Supra within this spec

Flat 6 Engine 2.5-3.5 L
300 -400hp
$33k-$45k
2800-2900lb

Will compete with M coupe/RS3 or Mustung (top spec like BOSS edition).

I think it fits fine in that spot. GTR is heading to LFA pricing eventually even if LFA is still loads more expensive. I don't see them trying to compete with GTR.

^ spec would be something I would buy

As a Supra owner, I personally would love to see another Supra again, as well as a MR2. Its also been rumored for awhile though that we'll be getting another RX-7, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Really though, I don't see a Supra coming back, not unless the FT-86 does amazingly well in sells. At earliest I see us possibly getting a new Supra when we get a second generation FT-86, so around 2017?

No offense CyberFormula, but I think your specs are a bit too close to the '86 and not close enough to what a high-end sports car would be. What I think a realistic A90 would look like if made:

3.0L V6, both non-turbo and turbocharged.
~360 hp (non-turbo), ~400 hp (turbo)
3,200 lbs - 3,500 lbs
~$40k-$45k (Base)

Hopefully with a targa top and liftback to carry on the Supra tradition. Unfortunately, I don't see Toyota making a new inline 6 for it, or even using a flat 6 from Subaru for it. I'd imagine they'd either use one of their current V6 or a new V6 to power it, hopefully aluminum block and head to reduce weight. Maybe even a V8 to get the necessary power, which would also put it on par with its competition. If its a 6 cylinder, its got to be a 3.0L though, just for the heritage bit.

Something like this but without the ridiculous spoiler they put on it. Hopefully if it does come out its design has shoutouts to all three Supra generations and doesn't draw on the MKIV too heavily, although a completely modern Supra similar to the FRS might not be too bad either.

If i'm not mistaken, the problem with the old supra was it was too much of a Muscle car than a Circuit car. At least the production version...not the GT version they used to compete.

The flat 6 is suggested as it will build upon the balance from the FT86. When i was thinking flat 6, i actually was thinking about Porsche's flat 6 engines, but of course this will obviously be sourced from subaru.

If an STI with 2.0L Turbo can go 300hp, i'd imagine a set up of a flat 6 turbo can go above 400hp.

Perhaps they can trickle down technology from the LFA. But realistically speaking, i think our generation is heading to fuel economical sport cars. So your thinking is still too "current". If they're gonna make something like a new supra, i don't believe they will have the specs of a V8. At most it will be a 6 cylinder. The configuration can be debated, but i still believe a Flat 6 is best. I am also leaning more towards a 2.0-2.5L engine rather than a 3.0L. In addition, probably a 330hp range is more realistic. With this i think a 34k-36k price tag.

But this is just all imagination. I take note of what BMW is doing right now. There next M coupe is going downsized. They're all downsizing.

Pricewise, I think it'll be more in the ballpark of 50-60K. I'm just glad to see that they are going to proceed with bringing back the Supra but I agree, it's going to be 5 yrs+ until we see a concept. I wouldn't mind an I6 TT, turbo V6 or even a Flat 6. Just make the car with the similar principals as the FT86; awesome looks, low cog, excellent handling and raw.
