I was removing the stickers off my dad's new CR-V (some stupid 'lifetime pin-stripe warranty sticker and the 'ECON' leaf sticker) in front of the house while my FR-S sat in the driveway (parked backed-in of course). The house across the street always has a bunch of teenagers in it and one guy was driving some SUV full of a bunch of girls and they all were bending their necks looking at it the driveway as they passed, was pretty funny.

Leaving to go back to my place, I had an STI rev at me and give me a 'WOO HOO' before making a left. A bunch of people eye it up at intersections too I've noticed. I saw one older man grinning and nodding when he was behind me at the light, thought I'm not sure if he was doing that because of the car!

I will say that Firestorm red gets people's attention for sure!

Last week there was an older gentleman in a Maserati Quattroporte behind me when stopped at an intersection. Looking through the rear view mirror I could see him all eyeing up my 'girl'.... Should have bought the Maserati Grand Turismo mister! LOL

Saturday I went to Car's and Coffee in Houston and the FR-S/BRZ's were very popular - there were 6 FR-S's and 1 BRZ and I'm sure all the owners like me met and talked to lots of people. I let people get in and check out whatever and seemed like they were blown away that the seats were stock... lots of positive reaction and people expressing they really wanted to get one afterwards.

Yesterday while filling up for the second time, an older guy next to me comes over and asks if its the new Scion...we chatted while I filled up and he's very much liking the car. He had a TC and said he'd love to get an FR-S...

Then there's the BMW drivers.... who are barreling along then seem to stop when about to pass and hover around the car often pulling in behind and following for quite a ways... LOL

I've noticed the women walking their dogs around the city can't help but stare either, brings a smile to my face.

Reading this thread last night prepared me for the curious guy who approached me in the dmv parking lot...

Me: "It's the Toyota/Subaru collaboration car."
Him: "But it's a Scion."
Me: "Yes... Scion is Toyota's brand."
Him: "Really?"

The most popular reaction is along the lines of.. "I never cared for Scion before, but that is one HOT car!" I guess if they wanted to revitalize their brand they did it right.

I do have to admit, I like the "Scion-ism" parts of it that appeal to my Generation Y nerd side. The modular cup-holder piece and iPod cup-holder/dock cable combo things are really neat!

My dad used to drive some real cool cars in his day (GTOs, Z28 Camaro, Monarch) and when he sat in the FR-S he about fell in! "Wow, it's been a long time since I've sat in a car this low, almost like an old Porsche!" He also liked the minimalist setup for the climate control and clock, as do I!

I don't see why they could give you bad looks. They don't have a very good looking lineup in my opinion. None of their cars stick out as that sporty. No offense to the GTI, it's a fine vehicle but I wouldn't consider it anywhere near as nice looking.

I have yet to get any negative feedback, most people are shocked that it's a Scion and the price.

Confirmed. No dirty looks from Lotus, Tesla, Miata, WRX\STi drivers

Kind of dirty look from a Stang driver, but he probably was moody that day.

Don't really care. Keep moving on.

Driving to work today an older gentleman almost rear ended the car in front of him cause he was staring so hard.

My girlfriend and I almost died laughing.

Do wrx/sti drivers acknowledge you? I got two STI drivers to stare (probably) the whole time I was in view. The other 2-3 STI's and like 10 WRX's have just completely ignored me. It's hilarious.

I've had two separate occasions where an STI in WRB revs at me and shouted happily.

I was at the dealership checking out a new FRS, a couple of teens come over and say:

"Wow, they changed the TC already"?

"No bro, that's the new Celica rebadge as a Scion"

All I could do was chuckle........
