While the TRD-spec 86 was first revealed in January at the 2012 Tokyo auto salon, the 147kW/205Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engined production car goes on sale in Australia in June with prices expected to start around the high-$30,000 mark.

I love the comments sections in those articles, they always degenerate immediately into youtube-esque flame wars.

There has only been a single solidish piece of information so far from Toyota officially. And that is that they were negotiating for a price starting with 3. Now that can mean 30k or 39k, but everyone just jumped the gun and said high 30, then 40 then higher.. WTF? Why? I will never understand this..

actually the only thing that was officially announced/confirmed is that the car is called 86.

everything else like launch date, price, spec etc etc are all speculation.

Sorry Nardi but 7onyd got you on this 1.

A early (maybe 2yrs ago) story with a Toyota Rep stated they plan/try to release the ft86 (at that time) with a 3.

Not sure where that article is but ill have a dig. Pretty sure on Toy Aus facebook there was something as well.

Just like 4 years ago Toyota/Scion's rep suggested that they will release the car under USD$20k but then turned around and said it wasn't possible??

Not saying it won't start with a 3 but as at this moment it's not official.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's not on the official website or a press release, it's not official. quotes on articles are just that.
