I also had somebody and their son drive to my house complaining that I'd just sped past their house doing 65. I'd been detailing my car for the past 2 hours, it wasn't even warm. It amazes me how ignorant some people can be. They see a red sports car and immediately assume its a race car

wow, that is just crazy insane Amir, keep it cool brother

I personally enjoy a loud exhaust on race cars. Actually most race cars are deafening and that is okay because most people there enjoy having their ears ruined, like me.

On road cars though, I think it should be loud but not overly loud. If the person can't hear the person next to them when you drive by, then it is too loud. Then again, I listen to death metal and used to play the drums.

Ear plugs are the answer to your deafening problems

I lived in a rich neighborhood previously where my "GTR" was seen as ricer car. I have a CATTED full 3 inch non resonated exhaust. The car needed it bad. It sounded quieter than my G35. Anyways. This old guy from across the street comes out to me while I'm washing my car. Tells me that I'm idling in front of his house and revving my car. I calmly told him THAT is your NEXT door neighbor. He says IMPOSSIBLE, you have a white / loud car! It's you! I proceed to tell him. 1) I never rev my car cold and I drive straight to work and school from here because I hate being late. I would never loiter or I would turn the car OFF. 2) The GTR has an automatic (DCT) transmission, I would never put my car in neutral and rev it for no reason... and I have no reason to do that here. 3) YOUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR HAS A STRAIGHT PIPED PORSCHE GT3RS! AND YOU SOUND LIKE YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS BECAUSE YOU'RE ASKING IF MINE IS BROKEN... so I will put this in terms you can understand... it's a LOUD. FUCKING. CAR... and guess what? It's WHITE. He's a ****. Never waves. Always revs. And you live next door. I move out next month... so leave me the hell alone.

... never bothered me and always smiled and waved afterwards. lol.

Haha YES! This story made me happy.

I live in a small shitty subdivision and there is a nicer but also small subdivision behind mine. It's a weird setup, because the only way into or out of that subdivision is through mine. There is an obnoxious group of crotch rawket doodz in the neighborhood behind mine. Unfortunately I live on the road that you have to go down to access the other subdivision.

One day I was riding my friend's '01 CBR 600 beater he had just bought. I had been riding motorcycles for about a week at this point, so I was basically riding it to learn. I was going down my street, and about 5 houses down, some old man stood in the middle of the road and stopped me. He then proceeded to threaten me if I didn't stop screaming down HIS street because he has grandkids that show up on holidays and so on and so fourth.

I just yes sir'ed him until he went away, but seriously... what the fuck? The guys he was confusing me with ride flashy-paint-jobbed, chrome, lowered, stretched, loud, 1000+ cc bikes and they have mohawks on their helmets and act like super douches 100% of the time. I was casually riding down the street on the most haggard ass sport bike you've ever seen, dented, spray painted, shit dangling off, nowhere near anything that would resemble something even roughly street legal... AND I CAME FROM A FEW HOUSES DOWN!

That was like 2 years ago, and the fuckers from the other subdivision still hit 100mph on our street on a regular basis. I doubt he's ever said anything to them.

I'm glad you're such a safe rider. I'm sure you always wear a full face and nice bright and reflective over garments. Most "loud pipes save lives" guys are wearing a skullcap and black clothes.

I hate super loud vehicles in my neighborhood. I always try be considerate around town. My exhaust became unbearably loud with an uel header...basically can't goose it anywhere without feeling like a d-bag. But I love the sound...

Is it because you drive like an old lady when you not "on it" ?

How do you know people are getting mad at you? What actions are they taking that lead you to believe they are mad?

Could just be they are annoyed by the way your car sounds. As an example, if it were up to me, every single harley davidson on the planet would be thrown into a furnace and melted down into scrap that could be used to produce something worth while. I HATE they way they sound. When i hear one anywhere near me in on the the roads i will do whatever i can to not have to listen to that hideous noise. If one pulls up near me, i instantly roll up the windows and crank up the radio, if that does not drown it out, i will free rev enough to drown out the horrible sound. So, if people react this way to your car, i would assume it is because they just can't stand the way it sounds.

I can't believe that in 2013 people are still surprised that the general population doesn't like loud exhausts... if you don't want the attention, don't run a loud exhaust. This isn't rocket science.
