It's not how much it costs, it's the competition when you start getting into the high 20s..low 30s. A 370z for 30 dollars more per month, a proven engine, and 100 more hp? Yes plz. But if it's priced at 24, that's 90 per month less than 370. Which isn't marginal. It's also about what you get for the money. Value. I just saw a 370 for 29k, with HIDs, stupid power, proven car.. brand new. Why would you drop 28-29 on a loaded 86? It stops being justifiable after 26-27k imho

Plus a more boring drive, less feedback/driver involvement (based on reviews), etc.

No thanks.

No thanks.
Because we have tons of driver feedback(from people like us not magazines) with a bunch of reviews on the FR-S/BRZ.

If these prices are accurate, they are very fair. I do not see the BRZ coming in under 26,000.

Have you seen how much the yen value has rise in the last couple of years compared to the dollar? For me it makes complete sence that this car ended up at this price (if this is the correct one, I haven't looked at the attached letter yet). Honestly, I thought it was going to be a little higher than this.

Hence why I said "(based on reviews)". I'll still make my own decision but there's only one Z I would consider (the Nismo Z) and it's priced quite a bit higher. The other Z's are, IMO, crap. If this car drives as well as we expect then it's a true statement.

Speaking generally, if confirmed, 24,200 is too high to be competitive. The market is just to saturated for the average buyer.

Heck they should have put it at 23,900 to be under 24k... just for psychological purposes.

However, personally I think the price is OK for me.

If this is the price the BRZ premium will be probably around 26k, and the limited 28k and that is too much for that car. I foresee a lot cancelled preorders, and it looks like I'll be headed down the FRS route; not because I couldn't afford the BRZ, but because to me the FRS is a better value.

I can tell you all I've been involved with Scion since 2004 and you all only have to wait a day to verify what I've posted.

For the record it too am a little disappointed with the price but, I still think we will sell as many as we can make the first year or so.
If you do, it won't be with help from me. At least not until I can walk into a Toyota dealership and purchase a Toyota GT-86 instead of a Scion FR-S (which appears on par with the G-86 looking at pictures.)

Or with all the goods from the Toyota/Subaru versions that Scion has cut out.

I will never be a Scion lover. Even if they handed me a Scion FR-S for free, I wouldn't accept it.

P.S. Yes, I am bitter. Seven years of not having a Toyota sports car for sale. Waiting and begging for one only to have one dangled in my face and then pulled away at the last second. Very bitter. Especially when I finally earned the job that would let me afford a Toyota sports car the same year Toyota cancelled all their sports cars, forcing me to buy used with all the problems from the previous owner. Very bitter indeed.

Lol @"Please keep this confidential" in the PDF. Not the language you use when it's not meant to be broken. I'd say it's a decoy, to fool Subaru, lol
