I weighed them both on install, 5.6 lbs lighter than stock.

Yeah it's in the 5-6 lbs lighter range. Not really noticeable on the ol' butt dyno, but still measurable.

I dunno, the lighter wallet makes a huge difference IMO

Anyone else notice that their TRD exhaust got quieter over time? I've had my car for just under two weeks now, and the exhaust is noticeably quieter?

When I first got my car, I didn't understand what people meant by "this exhaust is too quiet" because mine was super loud and sounded amazing. Now, the only time it sounds that good is during cold starts but once the car is warmed up, it gets REALLY quiet. There's basically no sound while cruising when it was loud enough to give me a headache the first day even during cruising.

I understand the exhaust is breaking in and the ECU has adjusted itself to the TRD exhaust and intake combo, but is there a way to get that loudness back or is it gone for good?

i think once every exhaust builds up that exhaust gas fumes etc in the pipes it makes it quiet. so unless you scrape out the build up in the pipes then no. thats just my guess at whats going on idk though

I have the TRD exhaust and never thought it was "super loud".

But I am debating between catted or non cat front pipe to improve sound.

I did notice this, but I assumed I had just become accustomed to the volume (I had also installed the TRD intake the week before, which makes it really quiet deleting the sound generator tube). My exhaust only sounds loud now on cold starts where it drones for the 30 seconds or so of high idle.

I want to do this too. I'm thinking Borla UEL Header since the TRD catback is also a Borla exhaust so I'm thinking this will go together nicely. Not sure what I wanna throw in the middle though. Any ideas.

The mid-pipe is replaceable is it not? Someone could go catless and run a full 2.5" all the way to the TRD exhaust it seems to me.

I really hope someone has done this with their TRD exhaust and can post results.
