Ok, so I'm not talking to Findlay Subaru of St. George, Utah. They so far have no existing pre-orders for the BRZ and I was told that MSRP is what I would pay. I'll let you know the final verdict in an hour or so but it looks like they might be a good and close alternative for those of us living in Vegas.

This may not necessarily put this dealer on the blacklist. Just a fyi anyway.....
South Coast subaru in costa mesa, ca, wants $1000 non-refundable deposit. That's a lot of money to risk on a car most people have never seen in person. Why non-refundable? It's not like they will have a hard time selling the BRZs......

I feel like any dealer not selling MSRP should be black listed but that is just me

Good Day,

First off, we would like to thank everybody for their interest in the exciting BRZ! Without fans of these beautiful cars, as well as the rest of the Subaru line, we wouldn’t enjoy our jobs nearly as much. This reply concerns only our dealership and not the policies, actions or allocation quantities for other Subaru dealerships. We began processing sold orders the same day as the rest of the Subaru dealer network last week, and given the unknowns with the release of the BRZ are delighted at the reception for the new sports car.

There are some facts about the BRZ release that may not be widely known. For instance, it was just last week that every dealership found out how many BRZs they were going to be receiving. Some dealers will receive only one, and no dealer—no matter how large, will receive more than 35 for the entire year. Although we are a moderately sized dealer, our retail success with the WRX and STI models resulted in Subaru of Las Vegas being allocated a total of 23 for the remainder of the year. We would love to have more but are very appreciative to receive as many as we were earmarked.

Another unknown that still exists as of this writing is the fact that Subaru of America has not yet released the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the BRZ to the dealers or the general public. This understandably complicates our accepting of deposits, cancellation policies, and communicating complete and reliable information to our BRZ customers.

Due to the limited allotment of BRZs that we will be receiving, we determined a Market Value Adjustment of $2500.00 above the MSRP was competitive. This is in addition to an exclusive Subaru of Las Vegas Assurance Package that includes a number of value-added items on all the Subaru models we sell. To help insure that every customer who truly wants a BRZ gets one, we have established a $2500.00 earnest money deposit policy for all sold orders. Of course, with the average monthly allocation of only three units, it’s important to know that early orders will be the first to arrive—beginning in May, and then filled on a first in-first out basis from there on.

With information trickling in on this new model almost daily, we have found ourselves in a “response mode” that has resulted in us establishing pricing and ordering policies and procedures “on the fly”. We sincerely apologize for the resulting confusion and purpose to provide clear and concise information to everyone inquiring about the BRZ.

So you guys are looking at making ~$4k (~$100k total on allotment) on a car that probably won't spend more than a day or two on your lot while you take advantage of the enthusiasts? I don't blame the guys leaving your dealership and driving to UT or AZ to pick one up at MSRP or below. Why aren't you willing to offer at MSRP? Guess being the only dealer gives you a stranglehold on the market?

If you want to make your mark up sound better, then by all means call it a "Market Value Adjustment". The only problem is that most people who are knowledgeable about cars know what you're really doing.

Not knowing the MSRP of the car shouldn't have any impact whatsoever on your traditional deposit and order policies since you don't pay MSRP for the car, you don't even pay invoice for the car, so regardless you're making a profit.

It's been stated multiple times in this thread that we don't have a problem with dealerships charging over MSRP. The problem was telling a potential customer one thing and then doing something different. That's not "resulting confusion", that's simply lying.

Competitive with whom? Pretty much every person in this forum who has preordered the car is getting it for MSRP or in a few cases, below. Bottom line, because you are getting a limited number, simple greed tells you to jack up the price for as long as you can, until supply meets demand. Any other spin you put on it is pure BS. Oh...and don't worry about apologizing for the resulting confusion...no one here is confused... We ALL get your game.

LOL, good luck with that...

We will be sure to let others know in all the online car forums where they can get a BRZ without padding your pockets with that ridiculous mark up. We will also be sure to let SOA know our displeasure with all the dealers taking advantage of this and how it can and will effect our future auto shopping decisions...

They can charge whatever amount they want at the launch. When the cars left at the lot collect the dust, they will sell them dirty cheap at the end of the year. Below Invoice FTW.

On the serious note, sell each car at MSRP or be sorry after looking at the sale figure.

Actually Mr. Subaru of LV...will will also let the other Subaru dealers in the area know this information as well, so they can use it as a "competitive" advantage against your dealership.

He doesn't need to be banned, but the links to his dealership and contact information should be removed as he is not a paying sponsor/advertiser as far as I can tell.

Mr. Subaru, you just make urself the least competitive dealer in the market now.

"Due to the limited allotment of BRZs that we will be receiving, we decided to scalp this deal by marking up $2500.00 above the MSRP was competitive."
