Yep. And the window to sign up closed about an hour ago.

Even though it is still accepting, I'm guessing they cut it off at 8:06.

Remember, it is in their best interest to collect as much data as possible, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was left this way for a while.

One who thought of the promotion clearly didn't think about after work hours.

I just noticed that even though the submission is still open, the opening phrase has changed.

If you read the fine print, it says basically that if the first 86 selected back out, that alternates will be chosen.

The opening statement used to mention that it opened at 9 AM PST, and closed 8 hours and 6 minutes later.

Now, it doesn't mention any time, and just says that you can submit for your chance to win.

If you read between the lines, it is staying open, just in case everybody else backed out, and then you could be selected, as per the terms and conditions.

The odds of winning this late in the game however are pretty slim, unless of course a dealer in your area was allocated 1 unit, and nobody miraculously signed up in that area yet.

I was going to sign up but for some reason I actually clicked on the terms & conditions to read them , (not sure why, first time I did that for anything I think), and I am not eligible since I work at a Toyota/Scion dealer so even if I did get picked, I would have to forfeit my position.

I selected Hot Lava/Manual and that's what I will buy eventually.

Word through the Toyota "grape vine" is that the retail date is 6/1/12. This info is from people from Toyota doing training at my dealership this past Tuesday. If this is true, I would expect the "First 86" to see their cars in mid-May.

Good luck to all those that entered and hopefully the people that are selected are members of this forum that are passionate about this car and not some random schmuck (no offense to random schmuck, but...) who saw a Facebook post or something and signed up.

I'm going to see what I can find out for you guys from the dealer side of things for this. So far there hasn't been any info given to us yet, but as things move along, that may change.

I posted this theory in my boycott thread yesterday which may bring consolation for all who signed up but don't end up winning.

So if First 86 asks you to specify your color, transmission, etc., you can almost expect one to be delivered to a dealership by your home.

Bingo. My dealership hasn't started a waiting list... yet.
