I think it looks sexy as hell. May be the way that I end up going. Even though 280 is more than I wanted. Can wait to see the details.

sounds too good to be true... I hope they use the stock box or at least some form of intake box! I like preserving OEM as much as possible. Also hope I can keep the hood heat shield

280whp sounds about right... the questions I have are what fuel did they tune on (tired of seeing e85 tunes, need real-world pump gas maps), and what supporting mods was the tune done on (exhaust parts, fuel pump/injector upgrades).
I was thinking this maybe 30-94 unit but who knows till they tell us.

The Rotrex material I've seen usually shows crank HP, but that seems kind of low.

Not exactly an OEM looking kit.... Anyone ask them about CARB approval?

You can't easily as the typical model you'd want to use only spins the wrong way.

Here are the pictures I took from Jackson Racing's booth. As far as CARB goes, I'm sure they are going to go the same route as other kits and get it CARB certified.

So we are talking about 260WHP and 185 ft/lbs of torque at 9 psi. That is on par with the Vortec and Innovate units, and makes more sense then the 280whp number that was mentioned earlier.

How I got my estimate
+54% of 200hp = 308hp (crank) - 15% for driveline loss = 260whp
+45% of 151ft/lbs = 219ft/lbs of torque (crank) - 15% for driveline loss = 186ft/lbs
Rough estimates of course...

Also, it uses a dedicated oil cooler for the Rotrex unit. Without additional knowledge, I'm assuming this is standard for Rotrex supercharger units? Anyways, it should increase reliability for track scenarios. I always wondered about the self contained oiling systems in these superchargers. That oil has gotta get pretty hot on the track...

It is the same unit that does this on a 8th gen civic...

God I wish our motors rev'd that high!

It's much the same as Litchfield's convesion: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=litchfield

.. but I believe Litchfield and Rotrex are working together to create something bespoke, so may be better than the Jackson offering.

Why didn't you get a Civic?

You can still swap in a K series motor and make your 86 rev that high

(I keed)

The oil cooler is necessary in a Rotrex due to its use of traction drive planetary rollers instead of gears. There's a lot friction generated and the special oil plays a pivotal part in this. From what I've read, overheating oil is generally the most common failure.

According to Rotrex, these things aren't rebuildable, but aside from changing the traction fluid and filter every 50K/2 years, sounds like it should last a long time.

I like how this kit is completely bolt on - No Grinding, No Drilling, No Tapping. I also had good experiences with Jackson Racing from my old CRX days - nice to see them in this arena.

For anyone who saw this in person, was there a heat shield around the air filter?

Did anyone get pics of where the SC Oil Cooler is mounted? Hopefully the charge pipe coming off the SC leaves enough room for engine oil cooler lines to run from a sandwich plate and there is room in front of the intercooler for both the SC oil cooler and an engine oil cooler. That will be crucial for track cars.
