Why the sexism?
Why is almost everyone so friggin' sexist on this post? There is no such thing as a "chick" car. Even if there was, do we have a "man" car then? What is everything else that doesn't fall into either category? Gay cars? This logic makes no sense.
So what if women tend to gravitate towards a certain vehicle? If it meets my needs and desires, why won't I get it? I've been a staunch defender of the MX5/Miata since the beginning (even though technically I was it's rival having owned an 87 MR2) against the chick car title. It remains to this day, one of the best drivers car on the planet regardless of price (note I said DRIVERS car not best performance). Plus, women have come a long way since the days of the caveman, I sure hope you don't treat your women that way. Goddamn forums always bring out the worst in people. As for the convertible FR-S/GT86/BRZ? Meh. I dislike wind noise and given that the Toybaru has minimal soundproofing to cut costs and weight, I will dislike the wind noise even more with the soft top version. I like cruising through wine country in a sunny day with the top down but to be on the highway with the amount of trucks that we have on the 401 with a soft top is not a good idea. For me anyways. |

With more weight and the same power the MX5 would eat this car alive and cost less. The power to weight ratio would be almost the same but you would be better off with a drivers car of the same caliber with about 400 lbs gone.
2752+60-80 lbs = 2812-2832 lbs/200 hp vs 2450 lbs/167 hp 33 hp difference for nearly 400 lbs difference plus a convertible adds about 3-5k to the msrp. Also a used S2K would be a major issue! |

I've seen many ladies driving open-top lambos, ferraris, s2000s, and etc... does that make those cars "chick car"?

As Toyota developed this car to be modeled after the old sports cars of their day, then they should go with a targa top. The hell with a damn convertible... Convertible equals too heavy, too many problems, hardly any warranty on the top, and "IMO" not as safe as a hard top/targa top.
