Luxury car tax on any vehicle over $60k. It makes an already expensive car beyond ridiculous.

Australia, where the pollies say "That looks like fun! Let me tax that for you..."

Try Prestigio, you'll need to go through a broker but. PM me if you need anymore info (I am a broker

The "Lucky Country"eh?.

Still, gotta subsidize the Ford and Holden plants, keep the unions happy by cranking up taxes on imported cars.

Seriously pal, unless it was the awesome, gorgeously looking, sounding & very expensive R8 - would you? All Audis are severely overpriced imho, are boring to look at & have many problems of their own, just like bimmas although far better looking, it makes the 86 look like a TMCA bean counter had misplaced his calculator when finalising the asking moula !

Dont worry, i was over that thought after i watched the chris harris RS3 test and he complained about its handling.

I took an 86 for a nice long drive on saturday and now there is no other car i would prefer for under 150k.

If my car does get the CEL problem i will just get it reflashed and run my own tune. problem solved.

That's the spirit ! It is a really good car, great for cornering, could do with an extra 50-100kW, but that will come, and for the coin ? Wow, no wonder other car manufacturers are dropping their prices !

If I ever have a problem I know I will be pissed & inconvenienced but it will get fixed - Oh what a feeling Toyota / Subaru

In Australia here, it is our custom to tax everything that moves, which probably also includes moving your ass around ... but seriously there's a tax for practically everything here and the LCT just prevents more of the wonderful sports cars from being imported and sold here, thus we end up with boring buzzbuxes and soccer mum SUVs and utes EVERYWHERE on the road.

In the States we have far too many of those even without the "cool car" tax

If Toyota would read this, they will probably think: Damn we should've asked 50k for this car as we have plenty of people that would think 39k is cheap.
However,

1. Audi's makes beatiful looking cars. Not an overly huge fan of them, but they are very nice looking cars. From luxury models A4, A5 to R8. Unless you are talking about the 80's era when they were indeed quite boring, although Quattro was released back then, so...I guess it comes down to PERSONAL taste and exposure.
2. GTS 86 is not cheap. It is overpriced as well as the other cars you mentioned. Look at USA that pays just over 20k. That is cheap indeed, not 40k for the gts. The are made in the same factory buddy, same production costs applies to both cars: the us and the Au one. Think about it! Is not like we're getting 15k worth of extra goodies, because we are not except the exhaust end pipes which i dont think they worth that much (unless they are made of 23k solid gold). It is all depending on number of sales, population, disposable income, household income, etc. and lets not forget the TAXES !
The car is good looking, and nice to drive indeed, i am not doubting that but by all means...it is not a cheap car. That depends on the disposable income you have though.
Also, if another car manufacturer releases a similar good looking car with more power and great handling but cheaper...what would you say about 86? Exactly!
