I want the hatch because like I said it seems more practical. As of right now if I were to shove tires into the trunk then slide them up to the center of the car... it just sounds like a messy job.

But hey. I'd like to be optimistic for a hatch. :P
AE86 was available in a coupe and a hatch. My AE86 coupe was right around 2300lbs with full interior. I'm stoked they didn't go the hatch route to improve utility, I think the compromise in chassis stiffness and weight would not have been worth it. More glass/more weight. Bigger opening, less chassis stiffness.

Mark me down for an initial release buy. Unless some financial hardship hits I'm ready to blow some cash to be one of the first ones showing pictures off to this forum.

My friend works at KBB and has hookups at Irvine Subaru I believe. I'm gonna ask if his contact may be able to hook up a group deal. He and his coworker got WRXs for i believe 3% below dealer cost.

Right now, I'm just waiting on the Scion pricing and parts options list to determine whether I pull the trigger on the Subaru or not. But likely I will be ready to buy Day 1 for the Subie.

I wish I had seen this a month ago! The site says you have to be a member for 6 months before you can get in on the VIP program. Too bad the car is coming out in five.

Great find but unfortunately late timing due to fine details.

Also "pre-selected local dealer".

But a worthwhile deal for an initial buyer that's not trying to get a group buy

You get to choose your dealer if I read their agreement correctly.

You pay/donate $20 for a year membership.

(Remember you don't necessarily have to buy it JUST AS it comes out. You can still wait a month after if you still need your finances set.)

When time comes to purchase the car you tell the organization that you want to buy a subaru at <insert dealership> and they'll write a little VIP membership thing.

Then when you get to the dealer the guy shouldn't really bother you too much since price should be lower than his/her.

From what I can recall from the VIP thread. Essentially you can choose the dealer, but the dealer must also accept.

Most dealers accept. Lol especially those who are desperate

Edit: UPDATE

Ok just got off the phone with the guy from Puente Hills subaru. His name is Frank (frank@puentehillssubaru.com). If you guys have any questions with him you can ask him directly regarding finances.

Talk with him if you want to put a $500 deposit for your BRZ and he'll get what you want. He told me its an outlet so he'll price match or beat any prices from any other subaru.

As of right now. He told me it will be $300 ABOVE INVOICE for the car if its 24k assuming you'll pay $24,300 if its like that....

I told him that we're all forum members. We've read up on all the price settings and all of its specs (meaning I mentioned that the premium AND limited edition ranges from 24-27k) and I asked him to confirm with me if that was going to be the estimated price for the car. He DOES TAKE the subaru VIP program. Once the offical pricing comes up again. I will haggle the price as lowest as I best can.

For those who don't want to read...
- Dealer knows about our group buy (if you mention my name "monique" to Frank in the e-mail he'll start talking to you more indepth about the deal) If by any chance he starts to skew away from what you want. Give me a heads up. And send me a copy of the e-mail so I can confront his ass if he decides to lie or starts to go away from what we're after.
- He is taking $500 deposits right now.
- He is upholding the subaru VIP program.
- He is willing to go lower for the car if you can prove to him that the other Subaru dealer is also going low (in price) for the car.

I'll start calling him again if we could get some bonus extras once we get closer to the arrival date of the car (meaning oil changes, warrenty, maintences etc.)

edit2: I know those who call me Momo are wondering.. wut? real name is Monique!?! Y U NO SAY? Well I go by 2 names. Monique being my french name and momo being my Japanese. Momo is the name my friends call me. So right now. You guys are friends. ;p

Edit 3: I plan on calling 2 more subaru dealers to see what they can do.

Edit 4: source
What is invoice price?

Invoice price is the price a car dealer pays to the manufacturer for each vehicle he buys. The price is the same for every dealer across the U.S. for the same car.
Invoice price is only one of a number of costs that dealers pay.

One thing worth noting, while he might say he takes the VIP program it is important to note that we need to wait and see what Subaru says regarding the VIP program and if the BRZ will be included. The reason is that the dealer is reimbursed the different between what you pay and what the MSRP is. I'm not 100% sure if it is the full amount of the difference, or a fraction of it. If Subaru will not include the BRZ in the VIP program, then the dealer would have to eat that difference themselves. Not saying they won't, but I am doubtful. Just a FYI.
