Wait. I remember someone telling me that some insurance companies won't even insure some super cars. Not because racecar but because too 'spensib.

While I do feel bad that a BRZ met it's end in such a fashion... why is your replacement car so different? If a BRZ replacement wasn't available, wouldn't you have the option of having your insurance company put you in a rental until one becomes available?

It won't happen immediately. Insurance companies are not going to raise premiums right after a bad storm causing so much damage. They'll wait a few months and then start nailing their customers with increases to make up for the payout losses. They don't want to look like assholes by increasing rates so soon after their customers got hit.
