I'll probably DD mine for the first year, year 1/2...however long it takes to me to save up enough money to buy a reliable beater to take over DD status, after forking up a good few grand to put down on the FT.

I plan to do what I can to own an FT-86. If they are doing a government scrappage offer at time of production (very unlikely) then I will give the dealer my old Mazda 626 and get £2k for it. I also intend to sell my AE86 for it (provided the final specs for the release car impress me enough) as unfortunately I can't afford both.
My real dilemma is how to pay off the car, this will be my first car buying 'new' from the dealer and I'm hoping it's something achieveable for me. I wouldn't mind a bit of advice on the best way to pay for the car with the minimum sum for monthly payments with the minimum amount of interest paid if anyone has any please? |

You may be right, I don't know what the specs are going to be for the production FT yet but I certainly can't afford to keep both as I'm charged per parking space where I live. Besides it would be nice to have something with similar characteristics where I wouldn't have to be concerned by rust for a long time, if at all.

I would likely be keeping my 05 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner as it will be paid off long before the 86 comes out and that would remain my winter ride and the 86 would become my spring/summer/fall car. That's of course only if I don't buy a c5 z06 this coming spring

I'll probably be trading in my '08 Altima Coupe. I like it, but the payments are a bit high, and the V6 with premium fuel is a pain when I drive 500-600 miles per week.

There's something unspeakable about these cars. If it was any other car I would've gotten rid of it a long time ago with all the crap I keep having to put up with, but not the 86. THAT is the ultimate test of the FT-86 imo. How well does it bond to the driver? The AE86 has so much personality (in terms of cars, of course) that you can literally become emotionally attached to it, well beyond normal means. |

Well, I don't really get to trade in a car, I'll get to send my current DD 01 Elantra to the scrap heap though, maybe sell it for $1000-$500 if i'm lucky. I'm looking forward to getting a fun sporty DD again, I drove a 91 Mazda Rx-7 turbo for 5 years before turring it into a track only car, those were the days...lol

If it doesn't have a hatch and folder rear seats, I dont think I'll be getting rid of my Accent. And if the FT86 isn't a practical hatch like the old 86 was, I see no reason to buy it over a Miata.

Other than the fact that its not a convertible and a 'womanly' looking car, I completely agree.
