I have a friend who does some detailing as a side gig, and so I asked him to show me the ropes. I just got my TroqX kit today, so I'm going to be doing all the detailing myself. Chemical Guys also have a ton of 'how to' videos on YouTube, so you could probably do something like an Opticoat yourself. I won't deny it, it is an initial investment, but it's worth it in the long run, especially if you're a DIY guy

Oh yeah, he is extremely fucking pricey unfortunately. Same reason I never went to him.
But, it seems like he does quality work.

No I haven't. I am in the middle of an Edelbrock SC install. I was excited to see have the system on the car, more so than the RCE yellows.
But, I am finding some slight differences in the 17 manual cars athat conflict with the current edelbrock setup. Mainly the alternators are different from 13-16 to the 17MY cars. So this has been eating up my time while myself and CSG work our ways thru this problem. Sorry to say, but once I get the EBSC worked out, the RCEs will go on.

Finished break-in! Wasn't able to capture it right at 1000 but I did it! In just under 2 months I learned to drive stick shift from total scratch, and have also learned rev-matched downshifts!
It's a bit rocky occasionally during shifts but they've gotten a lot smoother. I also rarely stall now. ![]() I need to do a mod or two now that I'm here. I'll be installing a Perrin license plate relocator in the next week-ish, and will probably do some other mod soon. Stay tuned!

Grimmspeed strut tower bar, Perrin silicone inlet tube w/ drop in filter, Grimmspeed/Perrin MCB, and axleback exhaust (2017 compatible!) of your choice all good first mod choices!

Congrats @spike021
![]() I still need to get better at rev matching on downshifts with this car. The throttle doesn't seem sensitive enough, so I just need to adjust. Hopefully the stage 1 tune (eventually) will improve throttle response. |

That's an interesting take, because I usually feel that the throttle is pretty sensitive (it's my first car though, so I'm not used to other cars being more sensitive). Sometimes I don't blip it enough, or a little too much even, but generally when I get it right it feels pretty natural. Have you had your FRS for a while? |

OTS Stage 1 tune definitely made the throttle mapping A LOT better, imo.
(edit: at least for the 13-16, 17s have a different tune IIRC) Quote:

My question is: has anyone with a '17 BRZ w/ MT actually tried the new drop-in filters? Must find out opinions first!
