That leaded me to learn carbon fiber repair. I made a mold from the OEM hood and fabricated the missing part from scratch.

The end result was pretty good. You can't tell it was repaired unless you look up close.

And here's the unveiling:

The original carbon finish was very opaque. Did the clear coating with 2k spray cans and saved the $600 I was quoted, which means more car parts . Lots of wet sanding and buffing was required.
This build is so slick! I'm envious. Wish I could add some more HKS goodies to my car

Carbon skinned center console + extensions + climate control pillars + custom gauge panel done by yours truly...
I put ridiculous amount of hrs into this project and now I can seat back, relax and enjoy the end result

Been on this forum since 2012 and been to countless 86 meets here locally, and still, this is one of my all time favorite builds.

I've seen a lot of twins but this one really gets me excited. I love everything about it!

I did the center console skinning too. Yours came out very very good!!! Pictures can never tell the blemishes but I looked long and hard and yours looks damn good.

Props on the great craftmanship and very few understand how many hours it takes to make a piece like that.

cheers.

Just one question did you use a vacuum?

I added some nice slam switches for my gauges and shift light

The post you made a while ago was part of the motivation for doing this, and at one point of frustration during the process I thought to myself, that guy wasn't kidding LOL. I wasn't working on the part consistently. Every time I felt discouraged I would leave it until motivation would come back, so it took me about two months from beginning to end

Came out better than I expected and wave distortions are minimal. It probably has to do with the fact that I used plain wave carbon. When the twill wave gets stretched it is very noticeable. I also used plain wave to match my carbon hood and also that's the wave Ferrari uses for their interiors which I love.

Do you dare to make the door cards? jeje
Well you absolutely killed it man! Nothing pulls the interior of our car together like a fully wrapped carbon center console imo! I could look at your pictures for hours. It just looks so good. I'm humbled that my little project was part of your inspiration!! Your success has inspired me look for a new carbon project haha. I've taken a WELL deserver 6 month break from carbon lol but now my wheels are spinning.

I've been looking and looking on what to do about the door panels and I'm still unsure of what I want to do. I love the look of a clean carbon sheet with pull straps for latches and I think I found something I can make work.

http://lrbspeed.com/product/frs-brz-...m-door-panels/

What do you think of this?

That would look pretty sexy with some red pull straps and a full carbon skin.

I don't think I have it in me to do a custom door mold, so maybe I can skin this.

Cheers brother and what were you thinking of doing to the door?

I really like the weave you chose btw.

I think your door card project is doable and would look absolutely fantastic. I say go for it! Very race car inspired

As for me, I think my door card project will be even more challenging than the center console.
Everything that is plastic I want to skin it in carbon, but I want to make the center area that looks like fake perforated leather in real perforated leather. Since everything is one piece I might have to cut that part out so that both can be individually covered in their own material. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say
I have a bunch of custom modifications that I want to do to the exterior, so I'll probably get to this by mid year or later.
I did it!! I pulled the trigger and ordered the panels. I might cut some better holes for the window controls so just the buttons stick through the panel.

I'm definitely going to miss my arm rest but that full carbon sheet is going to look so damn good, especially with the red door straps.

I might print out some sort of vinyl graphic/logo with my cutter and lay that under the epoxy, or maybe even mold in a gauge pod!

Should be a relatively easy skin though. I did finally end up biting the bullet and bought a full vacuum system for my skinning. I used it for the first time this year on some small interior pieces and it boy did it really make a difference. Would highly highly recommend.

I'm a fan of what I think you're envisioning here. If you can find some good synergy between the carbon and a real nice leather job in the middle it would truly be one of the nicest custom door mods for our cars out there.

Cant wait to show you my progress when i get going!

What custom exterior projects are you thinking of??

Cheers

Awesome man! Can't wait to see what you do with that. Do you currently have a build thread?
I might consider infusion for future projects. I have to do a little more research on it and your own feedback will also be very much appreciated.

For the exterior I want to cut out the diffuser from the rear bumper and create a new piece of my own design out of carbon + a functional diffuser as a separate piece. Also I'd like to modify the sides of the Zele front splitter to flow better with the Varis side skirts. And finally, I want to make a carbon gurney flap for the ducktail spoiler. After all that my exterior will be complete.

And since
here are the pics from Sunday's Wekfest Florida

I added some baby flares both front and rear about 15mm each in order to avoid poking after adding the required spacers to clear the Brembo kit.

A plate I made with some carbon leftovers just for the show

More in my instagram...

I don't have a build thread yet. I should have one at this point i've juts been lazy.

Man infusion looks like so much fun! And the results from using a proper mold are pristine.
I really want to try out infusion if not just for some sweet plates that could be cut for brackets etc. I do think anyone halfway serious about carbon projects should look into infusing. It seems to take 90% of the inconsistencies out that wet laying or even vacuum bagging can cause.

Sounds like you got some great work ahead of you!

A little bit of engine dress-up with Renegade Motorsports reservoir metal caps, 86speed gas hood shocks and some anodized washers. I also painted the battery cap to match.
