I put it back on after the spring removal, but it must have not been secured since it came off when I checked recently. I ordered a new e clip so we'll see if the noise persists.

Today I took the plunge and did the clutch spring delete. I only drove about 30 miles (mostly highway) with it, so the jury's still out.

-Clutch throw is a lot less
-Clutch pedal is a lot harder to press now
-Shifts are more precise
-The clutch in my car no longer feels like the clutch on my Thrustmaster T500 sim racing wheel

When I get stuck in a traffic jam (just a matter of time in Tampa...) and I shift in to first 100 times in a mile, I'll know if the spring has to go back on or not.

Do that enough and your left leg will be so jacked that operating a stock clutch will result in your foot punching through the firewall cuz you're so strong.

hahaha YES

i drove a stock brz, and went WTF... 0 effort and the pedal is on the floor

Funny thing is ..form stock to spring remove , i didnt feel needing much more effort to clutch in..

But i guess is not the same when you go back to stock with assist spring.

It would be easier honestly to just take the whole clevis assembly off altogether. That's probably what is rattling.

When I removed my spring, I took everything off and did not reinstall. Spring, pin, e-clip, clevis. Took them all off and put them in a zip-lock bag in case I ever decide to put it back.

Without the spring there, the clevis, pin, and e-clip really serve no purpose anymore so they do not technically need to be reinstalled.

Over 30k like this now and zero rattles or issues.

It's probably worth noting that after doing this mod, you'll actually be able to tell where the bite point is, unlike the stock clutch. So if you're adjusting the pedal height as well (which is strongly recommended), you may need to adjust it over time. As your clutch wears, the bite point will slowly move closer to the top of the pedal. No big deal, but worth mentioning. For reference, I've adjusted height twice in almost 50k miles. My clutch is slightly lower than my brake pedal now and I've got just a bit of dead play off the floor, which is what you want.

Still my favorite mod!

After a few weeks and a few traffic jams it's still awesome. I have the pieces in my glove box in a bag, but I'm not going back. I love this mod.

9 years ago I sprained my left knee. Sometimes in certain weather or on some random days I starts bothering me. That's what I was afraid would be a problem. With my old tC it'd bother me in traffic a lot, with my old GenCoupe it'd bother me sometimes. So far the FRS had given me 0 probs even with the spring delete.

That's what I did too. Threw everything in a ziplock bag instead of reinstalling without the spring. If one day I wanna put back the spring or try a different spring like the mtec one I can reinstall then, otherwise I figure no point reinstalling the clevis/pin/e-clip without a spring.

the clutch definitely feel better, but is there anyway to adjust it so it doesn't have the wiggle room when its fully released? mine has some minor movement where you can just wiggle it before actually putting pressure on the clutch peddle.

Use the clutch position sensor (threaded rod with the 14mm nuts and white pin inside) to take up the slack. Try to position it so it just barely touches the pad wheel the clutch is released. No more play at the top. You have to adjust that after you lower the pedal anyways.

Finally removed my spring yesterday. I removed the fuse panel cover, then the lower dash panel, un-plugged the 3 connectors, and then removed the metal plate that's held on by 2 10mm cap screws---this gave me a little more room under there. It was hard work for me but so worth it! I also installed the 3/4" slave cylinder awhile back, so I have a firm pedal. My last car was a Toyota p/u with a hydraulic clutch and this car drives like that one now. Thanx to everyone who contributed to this thread!

This might sound like a retarded question, but how do you put the clutch back together when you remove the pin and clevis? Those were what connected everything. Also i lost my fucking e-clip even though i was extremely careful so if i can put everything back into working order without the other stuff that would be neat, I'm already sure that i'll never go back to stock since now the clutch actually has some response and feedback (i fucking love this mod).

You actually don't need to put anything back together once the spring is removed. You literally just take everything off, and then just drive. You're done!

The clevis and other related parts are simply there to connect the helper spring assembly to the clutch pedal; that's it. They don't actually connect the clutch to the car or really do anything else. Once the spring is removed, these parts are completely unnecessary, which is why a lot of people (myself included) opt to just not re-install the parts without the spring.

Hope this helps!
