Heh, I know what you mean. Avatars over time become the way people recognize others on the forum without reading their name. I've spent way to many hours on forums over the years, and whenever people change their avatar, I have to do a double take to see who it actually is.

People had annoying banners when the site started getting more traffic. Really annoying. Too used to NASIOC with no avatars or signatures.

Every time I go on NASIOC, I wish they had kept avatars. Makes it easier to identify people quickly.
