Like, immediately after the engine turned over and started running? or a few minutes before driving, few minutes into driving?

-click, engine ignition,vroooom to life, boom-?

And what kind of explosion noise? Any car shaking associated to the sound? Only a sound? high pitch bang? low pitch boom? Front / back? Aside from possible limp mode due to dummy lights, is there anything you notice off about the car even while taking it easy (hesitation, etc)? Leaking?

Maybe I just need reading comprehension skills.....granted I'm asking these more for general clarification; though you may have already gotten with orbital. I am by no means a mechanic...nor do I have a greasy enough history to immediately be of any assistance.

I saw that thread. I was already half planning an AC trip. April 6th is close-ish to my birthday. Maybe I'll go to AC and gamble!

Still at work do can't do anything about it immediately. But basically, I turned the car on, then a second or two later it was a loud pop sounding explosion that came from the back end of the car. Actually sounded like it was on the opposite side from my exhaust. Which is where my gas cap is. But it was on tight when I checked. I got back in and drove about 2-3 min down the road and the engine light, as well as another light for the gas cap came on, which it then told me to check immediately. I was close to work so I went there and checked it out but still no idea. And I'm still here. My dealer is like 3 hours away but they have a Toyota dealer about 20 min away. Or I could go to some other random vw dealer. Sadly I just spent all of the money I had saved on tires so this is going to be an issue.

Hm. Fuel pump on that side I would guess....probably a duh. lol

I haven't found anything googling yet....mainly posts and information regarding the fuel pump lines tapping under pressure but nothing too much about CEL lights associated with it. Seems to bring up the check gas cap light though. But it's primarily described as a rhythmic tapping.

Get the codes pulled by the boyfriend or autozone maybe? Granted, I know it'll be pretty stressful until you can really find out what the issue is....not knowing what's really going on and if driving is an issue, etc, etc.
