Word to the wise - If you're using the JR oil cooler, clamp all of your lines at the fittings.
I was driving home from the track today and one of my lines popped off, oil went all over my exhaust header shield and caught fire. When I pulled over my engine shut down on its own, probably because there was no more oil in the engine, and I had to put the fire out with puddle water from a parking lot... not fun. Perrin had this exact same issue with their oil cooler lines, which look identical to JR's, and they ended up clamping all of them at the factory and replacing everything in the field. I'm kicking myself for not catching this issue on my own given I had a Perrin oil cooler before switching to the larger JR. |

Are you ok?!?! I'm assuming so if you're posting this! What temps were you seeing? Any logs?

I was monitoring AF ratios at the time so I didn't see the temps before the engine shutdown. After the fire was put out and the smoke cleared I found the line. Went home got a clamp, oil, and some clean up materials. Came back fixed the line, filled the engine with oil, and restarted it. Seemed to run fine on the short run home. I plan to further clean it up tomorrow and check things out. I've had a fire extinguisher on order for about 9 months but still haven't received it. I think I'll try a little harder to get that delivered. |

Looking at the instructions I don't see any clamps on the lines or in pictures of the kit contents. I also just review the installation text and nothing is said about clamping the fittings on the engine oil lines. Perrin initially said these lines didn't require clamps. |

If your shop didn't use the included clamps that are specifically called for by the instructions, then... you need to bring that up with them. |

I've had the CARB kit and oil cooler on the car now for about a week and a half. It runs great! I had the chance to drive the 33 (north of Lake Casitas/Ojai) for the first time while heading up to Pismo for the weekend. Huge detour for sure, but worth it just to check off a good driving road. Ambient temps were 100+ in the early afternoon and Torque logs show oil temp maxed out at 212F and averaged 195F over a 3 hour trip. Power stayed consistent throughout the spirited drive with AC on the whole time. Not too shabby.
I know this isn't news to other JRSC + OC owners... But for those researching and curious why this kit is a great option, it just works. It's perfect for the spirited driver/weekend track/street cruiser crowd. Feels like a strong 6 cylinder. It's great having that extra bit of power to pass or just have fun while driving. It's a simple, straightforward install provided you have the tools. As for the clamps in the discussion above, I don't believe I got any with either set of engine oil lines. I went from the NA setup to the SC setup. I also don't recall them being mentioned in either set of instructions. But I'll probably end up putting some on the lines soon, just to be safe. Glad to hear there was no significant damage @romin! All in all, I'm really satisfied with the kit. Now to warranty these Primacys for some PSS... Tony

Jackson Racing Supercharger Owners Thread
I looked too. No additional clamps and I recall the oil cooler lines were already attached when I received them.
Check out Jackson Racing's website. No clamps pictured for the oil cooler kit... http://jacksonracing.com/jackson-rac...-kit-released/ What's that little hose for? Never for that either... On a side note, fortunately no issues with my kit or oil cooler kit. Been running strong the whole time!

The fittings in that oil cooler kit look like the same push-lok type fittings that some people were bitching about in the KW thread. Designed to work without a clamp, and they supposedly do, unless they're not installed correctly.

Somewhere I brain farted, and was thinking Rotrex fluid lines. This is why I shouldn't get on the forums when I get home from work... lol
