All of our cars were M/T, running Petron Blaze and the dealer Toyota 5w30 mineral oil.

168whp all stock on a dynojet is wishful thinking here in Metro Manila Patch from Autoplus showed us the baseline of their BRZ, only pulled 159whp
Thanks HRTROB. More than 100K worth of mods for the intake, Milltek over pipe, front pipe and catback plus the Unichip for 10whp gain doesn't seem to be worth it as this comes out to more than 10k/whp gained. You can hardly feel a 10whp gain by the seat of your pants. Seems like FI is the only way to go. Thanks again.

You have to keep in mind that once you go FI, you will need to spend on the exhaust as well. So think of it as 30K for the Unichip and intake for 10whp, which equates to 3k per whp. And trust me, that 10whp makes a big difference at the straightaway of Clark International Speedway plus the exhaust and intake provide more value, as they both produce an awesome sound that alone makes it worth the purchase best to haw your car baselined so you have an idea

Gents,

This is not to offend anyone and please do not get offended but what are the difference between the 86 and BRZ sold through MI Philippines and Toyota Philippines?

I know our BRZ is selling at almost half a million more than the 86.

I am asking as people who see me drive it always ask me this. I always say the suspension setup is different. There are aesthetic differences as well.

===========

Yesterday while parking at a supermarket to buy groceries a young woman approached me and handed me a flyer offering me custom vehicle registration plates that follows the format and style of the EU plates. Difference being the left part sports the Philippine flag while the right side sports the logo of your car brand.

I feel really dumb for not closing my car door and locking it when this happened. For all I know she could have been part of a carnapping gang.

Middle car is the one that pulled 152whp on the dyno, red car is mine, 162whp on the dyno. Leftmost car is san1231's car, power unknown. 2 races, as you can see 10whp makes a difference

Paps I think the only difference is that the BRZ comes with leather heated seats, aside from the suspension calibration. Does the BRZ come with the frameless rearview mirror like in the 86? In any case, both cars are awesome

Correction: Price difference is 378,000 not half M.

Could you take a photo of the frameless rearview mirror?

So a different suspension and heated leather seats. Natawa ako when I saw the heated seats a month ago and natawa ulit ako ngayon.

Why did MI bundle heated seats for the Philippines?

BRZ/86 plant where all the coupes are made.

Be careful bro, especially if the girl is very pretty

The differences between the BRZ and 86 in the Philippines are:

1. Front fascia. Bumper, fog lights, headlights.
2. Interior:
a. Dash panel of BRZ is silver while 86 wrapped in carbon fiber like vinyl.
b. Heated seats in BRZ (useless) non in 86.
c. Seat material: leather + alcantara insert (BRZ), cloth material (86)
d. Instrument panel: Different fonts. BRZ all black background, 86 white background on tachometer. Background lighting red in BRZ, whitish in 86.
3. Suspension setup:
86 - has softer front springs. Over steer biased.
BRZ - has stiffer springs. Under steer biased.
4. Fender side vents - 86 has a flat vent with an 86 boxer piston logo, BRZ has an Aston Martin like vent.

Is the difference in pricing of 278,000K between the AT variant and 378,000 for the MT justifiable to get the BRZ over the 86 if the cars were the only consideration? No. The biggest reason why I got the BRZ over the 86 is that during the time I wanted a car, Toyota would not take my money. They wanted financing only and not cash payment. Motorimage had no such problem. If I financed the car at Toyota, I would have paid more than the cash price of the BRZ so this was how I justified to myself paying a premium for the BRZ over the 86. I also like the customer experience much better at Motorimage than at Toyota.

Difference is so small though. You were just probably a better drag racer than the car in the middle. He spun his tires at launch and messed up his shift points from the looks of it.

Thanks for the speedy reply Nik.

I went with MI because we got 4 other cars from them. Havent had a Toyota since the early 90s.

BTW does your center panel airbag warning light light up?

The only use I have for the heated seats is to prank my unsuspecting passenger. I secretly turn on the passenger side heated seat and after a few minutes, they are squirming uncontrollably on the seat feeling like they have lost control of their bladder. You can also use it to keep take out food warm.

Sorry, I misread your question, if you are referring to the airbag warning light on the center console then the answer is yes. This is to indicate that the airbag is active. Serves as a warning that the airbags for the passenger is on so you don't put children in front.

i highly agree with this, toyota was just a pain in the ass to deal with while MI was really entertaining with customers and their staff are very friendly.

btw who owns the red brz with STi front lip and side skirts? i saw his car posted at autokozmetix fb page and have a few questions about it.

same, i would've gotten an 86 if toyota wasn't a pain in the ass to deal with. they wanted me to get in-house financing and kits which would push the price up to about 2m+, so i went in line for a brz nalang.

the red brz w/ sti lip is @NIKDENG 's

true, i wanted to get the 86 as well since in the long run it will be more legendary than the brz but the add-ons was a deal breaker for me.

thanks will send him a pm.
