Finished my take on an M1A as a DMR'ish type rifle. Started off as a standard 22" barrel version in FDE composite stock then upgraded to the Vltor M1-SS stock. Liked the lightweight nature of it, but not the ergos or appearance that much. Happened to learn about the M14.Ca Blackfeather RS chassis and really liked what I saw. Below is what is done to it for the Blackfeather RS chassis build:
Reworked stock top handguard cover to match better with the RS chassis bolt cutout Weight is just over 13lbs with empty magazine...so just over 14lbs with 20rds in mag. Now just need some time to see how it shoots compared to the Vltor stock previously was running it in. Sure feels way more solid/locked in than it did in the Vltor stock. The Smith Enterprise Inc extended bolt release lever was last thing I just did to finish up the build and is a HUGE improvement over the stock one.

Spiffed up my CZ 457 Varmint with an MDT LSS Chassis, MDT Bipod, and a Timney trigger on the way. It's dangerous for my wallet to live only an hour away from the Canadian MDT storefront lol.
I also picked up a very clean Lee Enfield No4 MK1 a few weeks ago. It's amazing the design and machining they were capable of. The action is buttery smooth. I just wish 303 wasn't so expensive up here... best I found was just shy of $2/round. I'll be hoarding this brass like it's gold! |

eForm 1 got approval for an SBR I'm putting together.
27 days isn't terrible at all! Still got another can in jail. Silencershop is doing free Tax Stamps for the new YHM R45 if you're looking for a can that can easily subcal and be used for all kinds of things full auto and below.

I am waiting to get in on their BOGO deal. My buddy did it last year, bought a suppressor for his 300BLK and got a free Dead Air Mask for his 22.

Latest build (about 90% complete):
Panzer Arms AR57 16" upper with PA AFAB hybrid muzzle device, BCM short angled pistol foregrip & grip panels, MDT 5-slot rail on RH side, and PA SLx MD-25 red dot. Charging lever was swapped over to LH side. Lower is PSA PA-15 with PSA custom series Match drop in trigger, Reptilia CQC pistol grip, and MFT aluminum minimalist stock. Gutted & converted a 30rd mag into a brass catcher. Weight is just under 6.5lbs. Have another MDT 5-slot rail coming in for LH side, along with Troy Industries deployable micro HK style iron sights and mount for clip style connector on sling I have. Kind of iffy on the PA red-dot, much prefer their prism sights - so might remove the red dot and only run the irons on it... Was thinking of running the Mepro M21 I have and like, but it's big (takes up all the rail) and heavy and I wanted to run irons as well - no room to mount a rear iron with the M21. Really looking forward to see how this one shoots. Always been interested in the PS90, but only way I'd really want one if it were in full-auto P90 config... fine with semi-auto ARs and nice triggers they can have. Speaking of triggers, really impressed with the PSA custom series match trigger...absolutely incredible trigger for $90 - nearly everything you want in a high quality a match grade single stage trigger for 1/3 the price. Only thing that separates it is a bit longer reset, but it is a nice very deliberate feeling reset. Highly recommended if you want a high quality SS match trigger for under $100, nearly on par with the Blackout Defense Zero hybrid trigger I have in my Aero M5.

I was looking at those but 5.7 is so expensive to shoot.

Way too expensive. I thought it was way too expensive when it was 40c a round and now it's 60c+

Yeah, one of my buddies bought the new S&W MP 5.7, it's super nice to shoot but he hardly brings it out to the range.

Removed spring, follower, and bottom plate attached to spring and cut off top to be flush with lower receiver (a little more than 1/4" chopped off) then hand beveled cut top edges with file. Temporarily using aluminum tape to hold bottom of magazine on, but will eventually drill & pin it in place with a screw. Built rifle mainly for shooting fun and ability to function as a PDW/HD firearm. Would rather 5.7x28mm than 5.56x45mm due to ammo density, lighter overall package, and recoil impulse (basically the centerfire version of 17HMR.) 5.56 really isn't that much cheaper to shoot, talking within 0.05 a round for cheap lower grade commercial 5.56 ammo versus standard grade 5.7. Never really have been interested in 5.56, if want accuracy at distance or take large game then .308Win is my preferred round. If want to shoot/practice for less or get rid of pests, have a .17 HMR Tikka T1X and 22cal airguns. If want max stopping power have 45-70 Govt . Always been interested in 5.7x28mm round and after getting the 5.7 Rock pistol it's become like 10mm for me: a niche round I love to shoot but not really a 'go to' round for everything - REALLY good for it's intended application though. AR57 could also make a great woods/backpack survival rifle, with one magazine and two of those tiny 17HMR sized form factor factory ammo boxes, you have a compact 150 rounds of capacity from an extremely flat shooting cartridge with accurate 200 yards and in capability. Would definitely choose it over any rimfire.

I forget what 5.56 is going for now. I hadn't bought any in a while till recently as I had 4-5k rounds I bought before ammo spiked. It is similar to 5.7.
