It's not your imagination. You'll get more power and smoother running because it has an octane rating of about 98 and the ECU can take advantage of the resistance to detonation. Also the combustion runs cooler, as long as the stoichometric ratio is correct. Too lean and the temp can soar, however.

Got you beat on the price: $1.75 a gallon for E-85 presently in Austin.

I'm using the OFT Stage 2 E-85 tune with CAI, an HKS snorkel and the stock exhaust header. It works very well. Also, I am in the process of getting a custom tune from OFT; will let you know how that goes.

I should have clarified I'm well aware of the performance gains(and worse fuel economy to get those gains) but I feel like the car idles smoother and just sounds better.

I love how cheap gas causes even cheaper E-85. I remember last summer when premium gas was ~4 a gallon and I thought e85 was great at like $2.40 a gallon. It's pretty awesome to be able to go the gas station with the low gas light and leave for less than a $20 bill.

Oh trust me, I know I have lots to learn still. But the tires played a part in the whole equation.

I love the stockers, never had anything negative to say about them for almost a whole year now.. but anything more than canyon carving under the sun, they don't work for me anymore.

Getting better at correcting when understeer or oversteer happens. I still suck at driving though. Definitely getting different tires once the stockers give out.
