They likely ordered just the gaskets. Around a year is pretty typical.

Got my tail lights replaced today by a factory rep, work done states replacement of 2 lens, 2 gaskets, 2 trunk bumpers, and trunk weather strip. Rep said the leak is coming through the bolts so they applied a little epoxy to both. Hopefully this will work!

Dealer just completed the work. It turns out they replaced the whole tail light assembly and gasket so I was pleasantly surprised. But if the pieces have not been redesigned I'm sure the problem will come back as it seems to be for most others. When it does I'll just replace the gasket with the aftermarket ones mentioned in this thread.

So has anyone found a DIY fix for this? i.e. has anyone determined exactly where the water is entering, and found a way to seal it up? [Sorry, no time to read through 41 pages to find the answer buried in there, if at all.]

Also, are users experiencing this same problem with aftermarket tails?

Some aftermarket tails still have the issue. I don't know specifics, but you could search and find some (use google search, not the one on here).

Anyone got any tips on drying out lights, I have crystal eyes so they are a bit more sealed at the back. I've had them in a box of rice for 6 days and there is still some droplets in the housing.

Or you can use the ghetto method. Use a hair dryer on low/no heat and funnel it into one of the bulb sockets to circulate out the other. I cut the top of a soda bottle and use some masking tape. Mine were dry in less than an hour.

After some heavy rain this past week I now see that my Tom's allowed water to get in. Only on the passenger side and it didn't happen last year so some water must have frozen in the gap somewhere over the winter and broke a seal to allow water in.

Gah. I'll have to take it off, dry it out, reinstall, and use some of that snot stuff to dam the channel from further water.
