That looks like similar clearance to what I had. My downpipe was both coated and wrapped, and I never had issues killing or melting my fans.

Should I get the brackets for more clearance? [not my car]
In CA I would wrap/coat your downpipe. So far my SPAL's are holding up, but I'm coated and wrapped. Just curious where you got that bracket picture btw.

You might want to read my guide on this topic, there are some implications to moving radiator forward with FBM premo IC

Full Blown Turbo Kit Owners Topic

Here's a sneaky pic of all my current parts to be installed. Just waiting on a few more before it all happens. Can't wait.

Hey guys, so I finally got my car back from Infamous Performance after a three week long install of my turbo. I bought the kit used so there was a lot of things that need tweaking. LJ @FullBlown has had nothing but absolutely exceptional costumer service to me and I could not be more thankful. When I first installed the basemap tune, my car was definitely running a little iffy. There is slight hesitation on the turbo and it bogs down every so often even if I am cruising. It was also dying randomly when I was either cruising or coming to a stop, but NOT at idle. The idle dips a tiny bit but other than that it was solid. Since talking with LJ he has done a few tweaks to the basemap and this no longer happens. I will be getting tuned by Bill @DeliciousTuning, and will post up my results. Thank you again LJ for everything!

What was changed to fix the isues LJ @FullBlown? That sounds to me like BOV opening issues.

He must of been on a very old map before idle stability was available (used kit). We are always tweaking our off the shelf basemaps. I just fired over a newer version thats it.

I just don't see BOV issues on a new part unless it was installed incorrectly.

Sounds more like a vacuum tube popped off. Boost leak test tells all, did 3 cars this weekend.

Finally got my car back with the issues resolved. An intercooler pipe had slipped loose, and the vacum line under the intake manifold had popped off.

Now, the car runs almost perfectly. Still have a tiny bit of fine tuning to do around 3K rpms when putting around, but the car runs sweet and makes big power (for me-dynoed at 280 whp).

The car runs and sounds like I wanted it to. This whole conversion took over 6 months from my pulling the trigger, waiting on parts, problems, tuning, more problems, mechanics getting hurt, tuner having a baby, it goes on and on, but so far it seems to have been worth the wait!

I still have to install the front crash bar, gauges, oil cooler, and a few other parts, but at least I'm driving and enjoying the car with decent power now.

Full Blown has been great in helping resolve issues and seeing that their product worked as advertized. Great customer service!

I'm very stoked.

Thanks mang! I still have a bit to go before it's all finished (and more power to make!) but the car was in the shop for 3 months for this install, so I'm going to drive it for a bit and enjoy the boost, then it's back to the shop for the last bits to make the car truly track-capable.

Boost leak test kit for under $10.

Go to the parts store and buy an appropriately sized oil filter wrench (you will be taking off your air filter/pipe and clamping this ONTO the turbo inlet). It looks like this:

Then buy a valve stem:

Pull the valve stem through the square 1/2 inch drive hole on the oil filter wrench so that the valve sticks out from where you will be clamping it. Make sure you pull it all the way through so it seals.

Then with an accurate pressure gauge, fill up your intake system with no more than 10 psi, this is enough to expose a leak.

Gurgling sounds are normal, hissing is not. Fix whatever hisses and re-install your intake.
