Thanks!

I still find it bizarre that the MF front pipe has been available since December 2012 and none of the vendors here sell it, nobody here has admitted to buying one from the plethora of other vendors online, and no pictures of the final production piece have surfaced. I had to call MF and ask them for that pic of an unfinished pre-production piece being fitted to a test car. Before that the only image available was a single CAD render. They did confirm it's a high flow cat despite it not being advertised as such.

It just seems like they aren't marketing it at all despite it being a very unique product. There are only two other relatively smaller companies willing to produce catted + resonated front pipes for this platform: Nameless and JDL, both of which are made to order and have a higher price tag...

It is weird that they aren't marketing it. I've noticed that a lot of import car modders will associate names like Magnaflow and Flowmaster with American muscle, and go straight past them to a Japanese brand, even though it's more expensive. You'd think Magnaflow would want to make people more aware of their products.

Once I get to the exhaust portion of my journey I'll probably pick one up. Still debating a Magnaflow cat-back vs. an Invidia Q300 though.

edit Eh, or maybe I won't pick one up. The fun starts at post 55.

That really sucks they treated him like that but I still want that front pipe if not simply to prove the point to myself that it exists, presumably fits well, and makes power without allowing rasp for a good price.

...and I just ordered it from Stillen for $380 shipped with promo code MAGEXH13. The $90 in savings over Amazon convinced me to pull the trigger on it.
I'll post some pics and if everything looks good I'll install and review it on the car. Stay tuned.

Thank you and welcome to the forum! I saw your first post in the NC thread. I grew up in Charlotte and spent the majority of every summer as a kid in Mooresville where my Grandmother still lives on Lake Norman. Whenever I go visit I'm amazed by how much it has changed since the 90's.

I've only been here since 06 or so, and I'm amazed at how much it has changed! I can only imagine the changes you've seen

My car is the same color as yours and have some similar mods planned, so it's nice to see how it looks before I go and do it. I'll be watching this thread closely.

My MagnaFlow catted and resonated front pipe arrived earlier. Took some pics.

Initial thoughts: the finished product is as advertised and is good quality. The high flow cat and 2.5" piping should add a little top end power while the resonator should keep rasp at bay.

I'll follow up later with pics installed and a sound clip if there's a noticeable change in tone or volume from the stock front pipe.

After installing and resetting my ECU,
First impressions, idles perfectly like stock, low rpm response from idle is better than stock. Very responsive and makes a nice WOOSH suction sound when you tap the gas. At WOT it makes this loud and very distinctive and very audibly intoxicating BOXER RUMBLE with a kinda metallic frequency to it. It's very unique and I believe the piping is what gives it the sweet noise.

After the engine was warm I beat the piss out of it down 5 consecutive onramps doing 1st-2nd-3rd gear WOT pulls and quickly became addicted to that noise and the power it made above the stock intake. The car just pulls harder to redline and I can really feel the difference the lower intake temps give. With a stage 2 tune I'm sure it would be nuts!

I'm very happy with the quality, fit and finish, and the added power from the Vigilant CAI and most importantly I now have plenty of room to run oil cooler lines from a sandwich plate, so it's a win-win!

We are bros, I too have his intake, only in blue! Love the noise and when i get a tune it will be magnificent.

Whoa I didn't know it came in blue, did you custom order it that way? You should update your build thread with engine bay pics. I'd like to see it.

Installed the MagnaFlow catted and resonated front pipe today!

Compared to the stock front pipe

Installed

Fitment was good and I had no issues installing it other than finding another failed gasket supplied by PLM with my overpipe. I made a quick trip to the dealer and grabbed a few new OEM 2.5" gaskets with metal construction and a thick firing ring.

I haven't had a chance to take it for a spin yet since it just started pouring rain but I did get a quick sound clip.

Before installing the new front pipe:

And after:

Initially I think it sounds a little throatier and a little louder than before; I like it. No rasp and no additional noise in the cabin! Looking forward to giving more feedback from the road in the coming days and the track this Friday!

Thanks for the review, it's good to see more shots than just the manufacturer's computer model. It does sound a little throatier, but I like it. You've got a Perrin cat-back?

Have you been following the FT-86SF/Hancha Group front splitter that just came out?

I'm running the stock Mid pipe and a WORKS AB-M Axleback.

I haven't seen that splitter yet, I'll check it out.
