This was taken in our backyard and although I have a few pics of this particular spider I like the green wings of its prey in this pic. Adds a bit more colour/interest.

Anybody have experience with printing and framing your own photos?

I have a bunch from Japan, both car profiles and scenery/street shots. I'm trying to figure out the best ways to print them but have absolutely zero design acumen.

I was thinking maybe for certain "sets" I could do like a triptych, if I have 3 different angles of one car for instance (basically print them separately but put them in the same horizontal or vertical frame on a mat?).

I had a series of this driver off course doing some landscaping and only wanted one picture to put in an album, Had found this 35mm film strip overlay somewhere on the net and copied a few images into it. Would work for similar themed images I would think.

I had got a darkroom certification way back in the early 80’s and have never approached the skill I had back then with my attempts with the use of Photoshop!

When I print for myself I use an old (2006) HP photo inkjet printer with good 8.5x11 photo paper, still prints great photos if not a bit slow. I get a local photo shop to print Bigger on more exotic material for gifts to friends & family.

I really like how repetitive patterns images turn out on metal with the increased contrast.

Taken at Calabogie may 2016 in the rain.

Excuse the bad lighting and reflection of the photographer (oops) but finally framed one of my Japan photos:

As is common with me I looked at the pic first and thought is was a picture of a view out of a window. I thought shame about the reflections but it can't be helped then I realised what was going on.
That is, I thought you were posting a pic of Japan, not a picture of a picture lol. Yeah, looking outside of the frame doesn't look like any skyscraper to me.

Haha. Well when I took the photo I was inside a skyscraper! Somehow I was able to get it without any noticeable reflections.

It's probably not what you have in mind, but I use either canvas or print on (white coated) metal. Metal yields great color saturation and exceptional detail if that's what you want.

Edit: while I'm typing, would someone please clue me in on the procedure for posting images? I've searched and come up empty.

If you wish to link to a photo from a photo hosting site click on "Insert Image" icon. (see 1st attached image) The image will appear in your text message box.
If you wish to use one found on your computer then click on "Manage Attachments" and then click "Browse" to select. When you find the photo you want double click it, (make sure it fits the criteria like .jpg max 1300). Then click, upload and when the file name disappears close that window prior to posting. Note: attachments DO NOT appear in your text message window but will show up at the bottom of your post.

Yeah I thought about it but I just have an apartment now and I don’t really need the highest quality prints. This one I believe is printed on Lustre paper.

But I’m having a few other photos professionally printed and framed and will probably use a bit higher quality material for those.

I have/had a friend, (he moved three provinces away and doesn't talk to me anymore) who is a remarkable photographer and a wiz with photo editing. I have three of his "works of art".
Two he had printed on canvas so they look like paintings. The third he had professionally printed, mounted and framed. The main image of the two motorcycles was taken at the end of my driveway during his last visit here. The back ground and sky are from two of his own photos shot out west.
You may live in an apartment now but someday you'll be in a better place. If an image is important enough to frame and hang it's worth doing it right.
