Okay, since we're on suspension; I had a chance to drive my car in anger tonight and the rear end is perfect now. I'd like to throw it around some cones tomorrow morning or at least a wide open parking lot to check my observations, but so far it's great. The rear toe is basically set to zero (L .2 out, R .5 out) while the factory spec is 10 in. With the car lowered and the camber set to near factory spec (0 +/- .75) the rear end tracks beautifully. It feels like its sliding, but these tires scream when they break, and it's dead silent. I think that if the rear ever does break loose, it's gonna be ugly, because it sticks so well through some decently tight cornering. I haven't tried any hard breaking yet nor have I TRIED to break the back end loose, but I'll test some tomorrow and report back.
Initial observations seem to indicate that squaring the rear wheels almost completely does wonders for turn-in and has no noticeable effect on straight line stability. The front is unchanged from factory spec though with a bias towards negative camber. I'll try to get an alignment printout soon. Sent from...somewhere? |

I agree that these cars don't need a lot of toe to help with either turn-in or stability (I'm running 0.2° total out on the front and 0.2° total in on the rear). My experience has been that stickier tires will require more negative camber (especially in the front, it's not a pretty dynamic camber curve). The need will be lessened with stiffer springs, but it'll probably still be there. Come out to the auto-x on Sunday, you can really test the setup at the absolute limit (and beyond), and you won't have to worry about hitting a deer!

Well now that I see everyone wants to or plans to (already ordered) S techs from Tein to give you an idea of the drop you can see what my car sat like with stock wheels.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21951 The only one that can attest to the ride comfort is @Yruyur and he stated it is a stiffer. But all personal preference, I have had them on the car since the first day I picked it up from the dealer and I love them.

Hey for next week, is anyone interested in going to the movies for the new fast and furious. I think it would be cool to have some twins in the parking lot

You should see and hear captain jacks. His box is the same style as the oem audio which I have. He has that sucker dialed in. Sounds more full than mine. Pretty sure its what the system 500 will sound more like.
We need someone to run a 15". Since we already have 8's, dual 10's and dual 12's. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |
