I have a rack of them using a computer controlled misting system and led system that dims on and off. Each species or geographic location warrants their own terrarium. They are inter-fertile and the control of breeding for their biological localities to preserve their phenotype is important to me.

It is. Their habitat is bogs with low pH. Those long fiber ramen noodles (aka sphagnum) releases H+ and holds an incredible amount of water. Easier to replicate conditions this way. Pretty much all carnivorous plants come from similarly nutrient deficient places.

Short answer, no. Long answer, no. Female mosquitos and black flies are out for blood not the sweet nectar a fly trap produces to attract its prey. Since each trap closes for roughly 3 days to digest a captured insect, Snapper can snag the occasional house fly but he's not gonna clear out a backyard.

They grew wild in the parts of NC and SC I roamed as a kid. Technically they are considered endangered now, at least in the wild.

It’sa real bummer that they’re endangered. There is a homeopathic market for wild ones. Despite being amazing prolific in respect to artificially propagating the species.
