2013 Scion FR-S Priced at $24,200 ($24,930 after destination)

Wow research and development for this car must have cost them a fortune. They trying to save the Scion brand with this car and they price it that high? Sure they're going to get the hardcore fans to buy it for a price that high, but for the general public they're just going to compare the FRS to the GC, and go for the GC because it has more features and more HP. They are going to have to do some good marketing to make their message clear to the general public.

I wouldn't fall for the marketing that Toyota is throwing out there, the FR-S and BRZ are not "sports cars", but rather "sporty" cars. Sports cars I would consider to be any 2-door Porsche car, Corvettes, GT-Rs, and at the lower pricing end, Mustang Bosses (maybe even the GT due to it's all around performance), Lotus Elise/Exige. I'd be really stretching it to put the 370z in there because to me it's performance isn't quite there. I'd say it's more "sporty". The last real Toyota sports cars were the MR2 Turbo and Supra Turbo.

The 86's are more in line with "sporty" as they don't have the performance to back them up, yet they're not boring to drive supposedly, have "Sporty" looks, and give up some things like a forgiving ride and steering for a "Sportier" feel.

Not a hater. Just being realistic. A lot of teenagers, college students and recent graduates with thousands in student loans had their hearts broken today. They won't forget because they cannot afford.

I hope this goes live soon. I don't see why it would take any more time than they have already had to open that aspect of it up.

Side note: In the thread about a forum member getting to drive the car, the big guy, he said that the red bolsters are not going to be making it into production. Has anyone heard of anything along these lines?

Especially wasn't a couple of the first drives saying the FR-S was on fuel-saver all season tires even? That's something they hopefully have addressed if true.

The 370Z is not a sports car? Sure it has crappy brakes...they overheat but it is a sports car. It just needs to go on a diet. Hopefully the next generation will be much lighter.

There are not really many sports cars in the market at all in reality. There are some don't get me wrong, but not many. Some may have a similar "feel" of a sports car, but that alone does not make a sports car.

I would not call any current BMW a sports car, have to go back to the Z3. But there are of course (as you well know) other criteria than weight and size or a Mazda 2 would be considered a sports car. FWD hot hatches don't quite qualify.

I'm a recent grad and I have some debt, but a car like this is not unrealistic. I guess it depends on the major. Not trying to be an ass but Im glad teenagers can't afford it, you know how the insurance rates would sky rocket? Personally, I think this is perfect. But to each their own I guess.

Jesus, has nothing to do with the particular car. Has to do with area that you live and how the state allows the area to charged for rates and the TYPE of car. 2 door coupe. Has to do with specific "FR-S/BRZ". If there are a rash of crashes of civic coupes then the insurance for this will go up anyways.
