My parents live 5 mins from Cottonwood Heights. I live 15 mins south from there

unfortunately, i'm not likely to make it out there again, but i made sure they brought me a hat from Porcupine.

Story time: So I turn 18 in March. Big woop. But, the point of this is that this summer I want to go to a 3 day car show in Arkansas with some scion guys and I'm almost completely sure that my parents will say no... I've never really pushed for having more freedom yet since I'm gone from home so often and this would be kind of the first big thing. Basically, how do I say "Listen I'm 18 and I'm paying for gas, I'm going to arkansas for a couple days with some friends for a show, suck it" without getting my neck broken? Basically how should I present this?

The "I'm 18 and can do what I want, but came here seeking your approval out of respect" card or any variant of "I'm 18" is a great way to end up on your ass without your parents' support. They bought you a car right? Bring someone they trust..

Exactly. It would set up "oh, since you're so independent, have fun paying for your own college. Call us when you have enough money to support our lifestyle." The someone they trust is a good idea, problem is I know no one where I live...I was thinking about talking my girlfriend into going but I feel like it wouldn't be her kind of thing...I honestly think my best option is to talk to my stepdad about it and set it up as kind of a "test." Like maybe if I can handle this they'll trust me with more stuff...Idk. #firstworldproblems... In other news I've been mad for no reason off and on lately and I'm glad that I can catch it but I'm having trouble finding the source.
