Normal Android functionality is to pause or mute playing media entirely, not just turn it down, when a notification sound plays; I haven't used navigation on Android while playing media myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did the same thing when voice navigation plays.

Also, it's not a screen protector, it's a factory film that you're SUPPOSED to take off when you get it, it's only to protect during shipment. It's like when I see people who have plastic on their flatscreens at home or monitors on their laptops, it's not supposed to stay on there...
I do want the background music to be lowered during voice nav, but the apps I've tried seem to be buggy or lacking options for that. I forget which app had what problem (between Sygic and CoPilot), but one would not unpause the music after voice nav and the other's voice nav was so quiet I couldn't hear it.

I think I will get an anti-glare screen protector and try that out.

Is there a solution for installing apps from the Play store (getting error that I'm out of space)? Currently, I bring my laptop out and SCP files onto the SD card and manually install... not the worst, but it is relatively annoying.

Thanks for the input!

That did the trick. You forgot to clean both cache/dalvik when you replaced the apps. I'm glad to see they work now.

No, they were the wrong apps originally, not compatible.

Use a file manager and delete the apks in the internal storage that get left there after installation from the play store. I have over a dozen large apps from the store, you just have to remember to delete the leftover apks afterwards.

Everything sounds amazing now with my stock speakers sans SW, especially FLAC content in Poweramp!

Has anyone tried installing this app to change the hard button actions? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464

I'm going to give it a shot and will let you know!
how'd it work?

Apps on SD Card

Curious if anyone has tried this program to move the apps on internal storage to the external SD to free up space?

Yo - I am the dude who sent a Ca-FI over to OEM - Sandy worked on it and the news is that the harness etc is the same as the factory head unit. Sandy said "Same as the BRZ - just better sounding than the stock head".

I installed my reference system but it appears that I need some additional adapters etc before I install the ca-fi.

I am busy scouring this thread to figure out what I need to modify to get the ca-fi installed. Can't wait!

Sound is subjective but - I have my ca-fi and reference system back from OEM+. I went to install both this weekend and ended up getting the reference system in BUT - it appears I need to put in some other connectors to get USB etc. I decided to pop the factory head back in until I figure out what other adapters etc I need. So - I will be able to tell you soon. OEM basically said it connected just like the factory unit and that the sound is much better than the factory unit. Plus - much better control over the audio.

Can't wait to finish the install soon!

No app needed to move to sd. If an app is capable of moving you can doit from system menu.
For the record any app I move to sd either immediately broke or broke after reboot.

After reading this thread - I still can't figure out exactly what I am in for.

I ordered this:

I am assuming I will have to plug it into two of the dangling BRZ connectors and then into the radio antenna plug on the ca-fi

I also ordered this:

Which I am assuming I plug into the dangling USB cable on the back of the ca-fi and then into the factory connector that goes down to the USB connector near next to the 3.5mm aux in.

I am going to forget about the 3.5mm aux in - I won't use it.

Is that it? Is there anything else?
My OEM+ harness will just plug into the factory harness and then into the connectors that feed the ca-fi - correct?

Those appear to be the correct parts (can't know for sure without model numbers, but it does appear to be correct from the pictures). If you're not looking for Aux to work, that should be all you need.

Yeah, if you have a BRZ you don't need to plug in that blue wire just plug in the 2 adapters and plug in the one banana plug into the HU. Also, plug the USB adapter into the USB port that is attached with the iPod connector, not the hard wired USB cord on the HU, that's for the WiFi adapter.
