Just fyi, I really didn't like the GC. Didn't feel right to me. I'm hoping that the BRZ feels better and I'll probably throw down for it.
Sounds like you are the right type of customer for the BRZ then. But I am not buying the GC equivalency: 600 extra pounds, well over a foot longer, loaded with luxobarge options - a GT, not a sports car.

Wait, so is the base BRZ/FR-S a sports car but limited isn't?

Sorry, the 1st Gen Tiburon was their first sports coupe (I know, I drive one - handling was tuned by Porsche engineers). They have been at it well over a decade now. I much preferred mine to the 2nd gen Tiburon, have not driven the GC.

Im not surprised at pricing at all. Back in 01/02 i was in line for the RSX-S and that thing started around 25k and its front wheel drive. Little differences besides the drive train.

Sounds like its a good price. Just need Subie to show their tru colors...cause thats what i pre ordered....

let me draw your attention to that extra poundage and size again as the main criteria... sure you can compensate for these to make a heavier sports car when you want to spend upward of $80-100k, but not at this low price point. And I would not call the Limited "loaded" - lots of features (eg sunroof) the GC has that it does not.

+1

It is amazing how many people speak as if they have driven the FRS/BRZ. Even those few lucky people who have driven one has only been very breifly

The cloest I've come is sitting in a BRZ (which I loved), and driving one in GT5. I will say if GT5 is at all accurate the FRZ/BRZ is way more fun to drive than an S2K for a novice like myself.

Both the GC and the FRS are not "pure" sports cars. They are both sporty coupes in two different size classes. In order for the FRS to be pure it would need to get rid of the back seat and push the engine back further therefore making it optimally balanced, lighter and more focused instead of hauling kids or people in the back. A Miata, Elise and a S2000 follows what I just mention 100%. That's the true definition of NO COMPROMISES.

The GC is at best a GT - that is the general consensus (outside of the GC fanboi community, of which you are clearly a charter member).
I've read as many reviews as anyone and I've driven gc. Its no lotus elise but it isn't a camry either. The gc is a heavier car and that was apparent during my drive but only because it was a test drive. I would nevr take corners like that on a daily basis.

Btw, a gt car is a sports car. Just like a roadster is also a sports car. By your definition, the only sports car ferrari makes is the 458, because all of their other cars are gt cars.

What people fail to understand is sports cars have different classes. But of course a pure sports car is generally the best feeling.

They are, where I think the discrepancy lies is the size and weight of the vehicles like the Genesis Coupe and the Mustang. I'm a big fan of the GC and loved the fact that they upped the HP on the most recent version, but when they are also hitting 3600 lbs like the Mustang it's hard to see them as a contender. It's much easier to add HP then loose weight. At least when cost and maintaining streetability is also a must.

Tell this to that german company that has been making certain cars for a while... What are they called, oh ya 911. Seat layout is a foolish detrmining factor, hahaha.

You guys are funny. I'm on board with this price. My main concern is dropping sales for the 86 which would suck for them.

But I remembered all the stuff you get. It's worth the price just for the stout drivetrain.

350zs are mostly around $30k and they're not really that fast, strong, and they have really crappy interior. I'm happy.

And GC? Eh, who cares. Let's take them both to a road course.

I think what Tachi was trying to point out is that all GT cars are sports cars, but not all sports cars are GTs. That falls in line with what you're saying as well.

Seems like we're having a potato-potahto discussion...but in reality, you say tomato, I say fruit.
